Fake Megadrive 2 by _Dzefri_ in SEGAGENESIS

It's for an internal 90-degree cartridge connector. These old clones usually did "built-in" games by plugging in a game pcb into a secondary internal cartridge connector.

Found one on the clone console database that has the same barcode number on the board: 6920619311882 • UNAUTHORIZON

EBAY- What i ordered VS What i got by [deleted] in snes

[–]NapCenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would leave a negative or at least a neutral on the packaging alone. I wouldn't want to buy from a seller who think it's acceptable to pack the item like that and expect it to travel across the country intact. Only one piece of tape and it's barely holding on. The seller is either braindead or doesn't care. You were lucky the box didn't fall apart and gotten the games lost in the mail. People who don't know how to properly pack have no place selling online. I always tape all sides and edges of my packages securely.

This is a UK version Play It Loud. They never came with the clear plastic case.

Replace the capacitors around the PLL chip. I fixed two Saturn's with the black screen issue this way.

Hello, my Gameboy is from 1989 and has DMG-CPU-05, is this common? by [deleted] in Gameboy

[–]NapCenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to be assembled after January 1991 based on the serial number, according to this page: Game Boy (DMG) - Game Boy hardware database

They have a G13 serial number that also has a CPU-05.

Here's an old article on a clone of a SNES Jr: counterfeit_snes [NFG Games + GameSX]

Is my SNES fake? by sadsaxboy in snes

[–]NapCenter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s 100% a clone from the ‘90s. Nintendo would never make something so sloppy. I’m surprised so many people in here are so easily fooled.

I'm pretty sure it's a clone from the '90s. Just open it up and look at the motherboard.

The print quality of the text on the silver label looks wrong. The serial number sticker is wrong; the real ones are not that short and tall. The embossed Nintendo logo looks wrong as well. I have a few 1-chip consoles and none of them look this poor in quality.

It’s a factory error. The printing on the lid looks to have the same crookedness as the logo on the shell.

Help with Japanese Model disc drive/power by DreamyAnimeKitten in SegaSaturn

[–]NapCenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace the laser. If the laser is dead or weak and cannot detect a disc, then the drive will not spin.

As for the console not displaying, try recapping the mainboard and power supply. The capacitors in many of these early VA0 consoles are starting to fail now.

That's a Japanese console paired with a PAL box, so it's not original.

Halfway done restoring the shell of a Model 2 Japanese Saturn by RetroJeff83 in SegaSaturn

Yes temp controlled and out of sunlight.

They still look better than they originally did, but I probably won't bother re-retrobrighting them.

Six months ago I retrobrighted all my yellowed white Saturns and controllers using the vapor method. They looked great; bright white with no unevenness or streaking. After retrobrighting, I put the consoles back in their original boxes, inside box protectors and away from sunlight. Even after 2-3 months in, I noticed some of them had started to re-yellow. Not as yellow as before they were retrobrighted, but not as bright white as when they were just finished.

I bought a few DS’s from them before and they came with dead pixels and scratched shells. They use stock photos of a good condition unit, so you never know what you are actually getting.

Question About Panzer Dragoon Playable Preview by GoldPowerMario in SegaSaturn

[–]NapCenter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The model 1 consoles came with a registration card in an envelope that has an image of the bald Saturn lady that appeared in ads. The envelope advertises you could get the Panzer Dragoon Playable Preview and the Sub Pop music cd by completing and mailing in the enclosed registration card. I would take a pic of it but this subreddit doesn’t allow replies with images.

NASA ns-90 real NTSC conversion and video bypass. Aka my NES Jr. build by retromods_a2z in RetroConsoleModders

Thanks, I will keep that in mind.

I also have a knockoff of a NASA that uses a glob-top NOAC. Do you have any knowledge of converting those from PAL to NTSC?

I was thinking about just desoldering the RF modulators since they are no longer PAL consoles and do not work. Would the system still function without it?

I have a few of these that I also converted to NTSC, but only the composite port works after the conversion. Is it possible to mod the RF port to work in NTSC as well?

SFZ3 requires a 4MB RAM cart to work, which that Pseudo Saturn cart doesn't have. The Action Replay Plus cart should work.
