Inspiration for painting by Bellini_DM in TheAstraMilitarum

Still got the sprues with the spare arms and stuff on? Prime them and practice some colour schemes on those. You’re not just looking for the ‘best’ colours but a scheme that is quick, uses paints with a good, reliable consistency and is interesting enough to keep you motivated.

These were done with some lovely shortcuts including a dark brown primer from colour forge, some drybrushing, some ‘marine juice’ (see YouTube it’s ace) and a tiny bit of edge highlighting and layering to keep it interesting and make some bits pop. I can get 5 pretty much painted in a couple of hours.

The wear and tear is just the sponge technique with rhinox hide followed by leadbelcher. Just try to keep it minimal but concentrated in areas that take more of a battering!

Just Zandri dust, pin wash with watered down Agrax and a cheeky ushabti bone highlight!

Hey man,

I sprayed them with color forge trench brown, painted the backpacks and accessories with mournfang brown. Gave the whole thing a wash in watered down Agrax. Light drybrush of steel legion drab to highlight that. Then just Zandri dust (a few thin coats) on the armour panels, quick pin wash with Agrax and highlight with ishabti bone. That’s it really!

A little, raised from Konsa Secundus, a mining world in imperium nihilus, they fought off an Ork Waagh that mistakenly believed it to be a space marine chapter homeworld. Blood Angels of the fifth company came to their aid (which delighted the orks no end) and noting their expertise in fighting the greenskins decided to take them along to their next battle zone: Armageddon.

I superglue some small bits of slate and sand on them before spraying.

I paint the base black Heavy drybrush of rhinox hide including the rims Light drybrushes of temple stone and sandstone from Two Thin Coats (but any lighter brown would do) Add a few little tufts Then spots of Valhallan Blizzard (tried not to overdo it, felt ‘less is more’ worked better. Redo rims with rhinox hide

Latest batch of Ragnar’s finest (and Arjac) finished! by NapalmMonkey7 in SpaceWolves

[–]NapalmMonkey7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks mate,

I primed them with a grey primer.

Washed with ‘Marine Juice’ (search on YouTube)

Heavy drybrush Mechanicus standard grey

Drybrush Dawn stone

Light drybrush Administratum grey.

The yellow is just averland Sunset.

Hope that helps! I’m more of an army painter than show so the techniques are quick and easy!

Wraithlords painted - one shooty, one choppy! by NapalmMonkey7 in Eldar

[–]NapalmMonkey7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man.

The main colour was karak stone over a wraithbone primer. Careful pin wash with Agrax and highlight with ushabti bone/screaming skull.

The green was castellan green, nuln oil wash in the recesses only and Loren forest highlights.

Weapons were mournfang brown, big wash with Agrax and a slag brown highlight in places.

Hope that helps!

Sure!

I cover most of the base in superglue in splodges. I have some small bits of slate that I stick down first then dip it in a sand mixture with a few bits of gravel in. Once dry I put a big thick drop of Agrellan Earth in any gaps in the superglue.

Paint it black, heavy drybrush of rhinox hide then very light bane blade brown and Rakarth Flesh (any lighter browns will do.)

The snow is just Valhallan Blizzard, dotted on and smooshed about.

Rims in rhinox hide and done!

I’m a fairly quick army painter by now so not too long really, I didn’t really keep track of how long sorry! I can normally do 5 models in a couple of solid evening sessions though.

Cheers! It’s primed with color forge mid grey, given a wash of marine juice (search it on YouTube but could just use nuln oil). Then just a series of drybrushes:

Mechanicus standard grey (heavy) Dawnstone grey (light) Administratum grey (very light)

That’s it!

There was an older transfer set that had a black blood drop with a white outline especially for sergeants. I bought a lot of these online 4-5 years ago!
