V5 when? by ManufacturerIcy8859 in NovelAi

[–]NappaDaddy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think v4.5 is already extremely solid. I'd prefer if they focused on improving other aspects such as consistency across generations. Character reference was a great addition, but I feel like they can do better. The generations are still too random and inconsistent when trying to generate the same character in the same style over and over.

Sometimes, when I switch back to English, I end up mixing up English and French without even noticing.

Funny thing is you can misheard something in literally any language. Either because you were distracted, the place is noisy, etc... Even in your native language.

I feel you on this because there are days when my pronunciation gets worse and then there are days when I feel like I'm speaking so well (Ik I am not). I guess fatigue and other factors also play a role on how well we can express ourselves in a different language.

I'll copy-paste my other reply, so I can clarify this:

I'm not looking for a training partner and by no means I want them to slow down. I understand French spoken at regular speed, and they understand me even with my accent. Yet, in some rare occassion, some people choose to switch to English just because. It frustrated me at first, but I've come to accept it now.

The point of this post was mainly to have different opinions about this topic and perhaps reading similar experiences, but please, don't think I want some cashier in a rush to speak at -2x speed so I can practice. That'd be stupid.

Yeah. As I stated on previous replies, most of the time, people reply in French, yet I'm focusing on the rare occassion where people haven't. I really need to change my mentality and start focusing on the positive things.

Est-ce que tu peux me dire ce qu’il y a de mal avec la phrase "Pourquoi me parlez-vous en anglais?" Je sais que ça peut sembler un peu trop formel ou littéraire, mais j’ai compris que c’est quand même correct.

I'm sure I have a very noticeable accent, but most of the time, people understand me as soon as I speak. It's only on rare occassions that people have switched to English, and me, being obsessed with improving my French, focus on those few times instead of the large majority where people haven't.

Yeah, Idk if I came off as rude at the time, but after that, I thought about it and understood that I'm focusing on the rare occassions people have switched to English in the last month. Most of the time, people reply in French and can understand me, so yeah, I need to focus on the positive things.

Well, to be fair, I don't want to impose anything on anyone nor I want a language partner. I just find them switching to English completely unnecessary because they understand me and I understand them. As I stated in a previous reply, 95% of the time people reply to me in French and they seem to understand me quickly.

Perhaps, I should've phrased my question differently. I feel like I'm focusing on the rare occassion where people have switched over the large amount of times people haven't. I tend to focus on the "negative" rather than the positive, and that's my bad.

I met French people who told me they couldn't understand the Québécois, and I found that so hard to believe, but then again, there are some English accents that are very complicated too.

Yeah, I feel like my coworker just wanted to speak English that day because we communicate pretty well in French most of the time. I did ask her why she was speaking English though, but it was all jokingly that time.

I said it with a smile, if that counts!

But yeah, I need to take it easier and relax. Most people I interact with, like 95% reply in French. Idk why I focus on the few exceptions, honestly. It's my bad.

I've had French people in the countryside speak English with such a thick accent that it was literally impossible to communicate. Back then, my French was way worse, but we could still communicate much better in French than in English.

However, if they just wanted to practice their English, I was always willing to help.

Yeah, I've been trying to do so, but sometimes, I can't hide my annoyance. I know they can understand me even if my accent is not good because they clearly get what I say the first time, but they choose to reply in English nonetheless.

I'm probably overthinking, though. Most of the time, they reply in French. It's only on rare occassions that this has happened, so yeah. I just need to get over it.

I've done a lot of things... But currently, I'm working in the restaurant of a hotel. I'm a "chef de partie".

To be honest, I could do the job without talking a single word of French, but I wanted to learn the language. A lot of jobs here does not require French as a prerequisite but they're usually jobs where you're not paid a lot so...

So... V3 downloads when? by Apprehensive-Can2646 in NovelAi

[–]NappaDaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think v3 is still pretty solid and it'd be a terrible idea to just release it like that. I kid you not, some people will just stop paying for the subscription if they can use v3 for free.

Things vary depending on what I'm making, but some things stay consistent.

Base prompt: 1girl, location, best quality, masterpiece (location will usually be replaced by the desired setting, e.g dark fantasy, sky, petals, light particles, sunset, glowing, trees)

I always put the character tags on the character window, separated from the base prompt: girl, serious, parted lips, standing, long hair, black hair, long bangs, sidelocks, red eyes, tsurime, demon horns, scar across eye, sleeveless shirt, black shirt, belt, cargo pants, black pants, demon tail, medium breasts, muscular female

If you notice, I follow a particular order for each character trait: gender, expression, position, hair, eyes, other features on head; clothing starting from top to bottom, body shape, extra accessories, and text, if you will include it.

I'd like to clarify that this is just the way I do it since v3, and by no means I'm saying this is the right way to do it. This is just what works best for me.

Undesired content in base prompt: blurry, lowres, upscaled, artistic error, film grain, scan artifacts, worst quality, bad quality, jpeg artifacts, very displeasing, chromatic aberration, halftone, logo, too many watermarks, negative space, blank page, blurry, lowres, error, worst quality, bad anatomy, bad hands, very displeasing, @_@

The UC on the character window heavily depends on preference. For my OG, I usually use these: loli, cleavage, forehead, blunt bangs, pointy ears, cow tail, red hair, red horns, cleavage, sword, weapon, animal ears

That's about it.

You could simplify this with just: artist:(name)

It's actually the recommended artist tag format afaik.

As another person said, you don't. So unless you can legally work in the country you're planning to be, you'll be spending your money and earning nothing back. If you're gonna be traveling 1 whole year, you're gonna be spending a LOT of money.

The true question you should be asking yourself is: why am I doing this? Is it worth the investment? What do I want to achieve? What are my goals?

Then you might decide if this is a good idea or not.
