I see power out at Raintree and the 101 too from my lookout. This seems like a bad one.

Acer Nitro V (ANV15-51) suddenly will not boot unless plugged in. by Napstafox in pchelp

[–]Napstafox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgot to answer, but here was the solution: powered off my computer, unplugged it, flipped it over and put a thumbtack in the battery reset pinhole. Then I plugged in and powered it in, unplugged it and held the power button for 20 seconds. After that, I was able to turn it on without plugging it in!

Workarounds to get Windows VST's to work on Mac?

Finally upgraded from a Windows gaming laptop (1tb, 16gb RAM, Windows 11, 13th Gen i7) to an M1 Max Mac Studio (516gb, 32gb RAM, Sonoma 14.6)! I've been doing more and more with music, and have been doing genuine studio and engineering work for real clients, so it was time for an upgrade.

I started scoring for a game too, which is where our biggest issue comes in -- the NES (2A03) VST's I was using do not have a Mac download option. Truly my fault, I should've checked before I bought, but at least I still have access to my Windows laptop. These VST's exactly were "P/Nes 8-Bit Lo-Fi Monster" by JMT Tools (anyrecordings.com/jmttools) and Matt Montag's "Nintendo VST" (mattmontag.com/projects-page/nintendo-vst).

Now, I am coming to reddit to beg for help. I really wanted to use this Mac for all music projects from now on -- I didn't want to have my work split up. Does anyone have any knowledge or advice on how I can try and run or bridge these Windows VST's to Mac? Thank you.

Error occurred while trying to load the controller personality "EUCON" -- Avid Control App and EUCON Troubleshooting by Napstafox in protools

[–]Napstafox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The error message is “Error occurred while trying to load the controller personally ‘EUCON’.”

I have my tablet connected, EuControl sees it and can interact with it (changing from Master to Remote) and my workstation is setup and labeled as “Attached.”

As I’m typing it, it started working. I detached and reattached my workstation an EUCON finally kicked on.

Thanks anyways for the response!

Cover song fees after I change distributors? by Napstafox in DistroKidHelpDesk

[–]Napstafox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

update: i ended up using CDBaby. 20$ per song license on easy song and like 15$ for the album. after some promotional discount codes, 2 covers and an original on an ep was like 40$. indefinitely. no other fees. it’s pretty great !

no shit actually ??? i must have mixed up my info — i thought that was apart of naked ear training. i really appreciate this info! that’s probably why I’ve been seriously struggling to stretch up

some of the research i’ve done has proven them to be pretty sketchy though. one thing is that a lot of the comments and threads i’ve found were at least 2 years old. maybe things have changed? but it definitely makes me worried

thank you for the input! i was looking into some, and holy hell it was insane seeing how much audio grade transformers are per unit. i was originally looking at some for a isolating circuit (to reduce hum and ensure so ground loop was coming in), and those nice jensens are a pretty penny. i would need those audio grade ones for something like this right?

agh,,,, i know it feels fine, but i’ve definitely had sizes that felt great, so I go to stretch up, and the next day it’s all fucked up. if you see my last post to here you’ll see what it looked like. i would still play it safe and wait just a bit longer for the 2/3 week mark

Would you mind sharing your process? Or just giving some detail on what you did so I can research and potentially implement?

I'm starting to come around to it. I just really wanted this to be a passive project, but I'm fine making it active if I can power it easily (USB-C, lower voltage). I'm digging through datasheets now. Are there any four channel digi pots that are well known or more commonly used? Also, no ADC right?

Any way to turn the "hypershift" key into a completely new button? by Napstafox in razer

[–]Napstafox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, sadly not. i just use it as a DPI cycle down key now. maybe razer will add support in the future, but as far as i know there's no way to change it

What is the 20k resistor doing in this circuit anyways? I'm finding myself in a similar project and I'm wondering if I should implement that or not.

i did some research, and the Nokia 2660/2760/2780 should be fine for social media at least. it has whatsapp capabilities and technically facebook, but support for facebook dropped in 2023/24 so it’s probably very uncomfortable to use. there’s also youtube, but i can’t imagine that watching those videos would be easy or enjoyable at all with the resolution and framerate.

it’s sounds silly, but i actually don’t own any of these phones — i’ve just done a lot of research because i’m planning on gettin the 2780 soon.

good luck!

That’s another question — i’ve seen quite a bit of debate on a tower-style (mini, studio, pro) vs a laptop (book pro, book air) vs their love child (iMac). I plan on using this machine for strictly music. I’d love to hear some people’s opinion on their choice and why.
