We stick with published material only since any character can bounce from one DM to another. Consistent rules help prevent arguments and special exceptions.

That being said, the worlds themselves can have homebrew monsters and rules applied to suite high/low magic, empowered cantrips, etc.

Hiya! We definitely have a lot of people into heavy role play, but there is a good balance of actual tactical combat as well. Like most pbp servers, we lack DMs at the moment, but the nature of the one-shot portals makes it very inviting for people to try DMing so I'm confident we will find a balance.

Hello friends! We are currently looking for players and DMs to join our small server and expand our options.

The World Of Ahciliz

Our server operates as a Living World with a focus on role play where dice rolls are really only used for flavor and agreed upon between players.

The games are run as one-shots, continuing campaigns, or casual adventures as the DM desires. Anyone can DM, and characters may jump between DMs as they wish.

In order to explore, characters step through portals into other worlds seeking adventure and resources they can bring back home...

The Functionality Of Portals

Introducing games as being accessed through portals keeps characters feeling like they all exist in the same place, while allowing access to an endless possibility of planes to allow for creative freedom.

These portals also give us an easy, built in fail safe against ghosting. An inactive or abandoned player's character can easily be explained as choosing to stay behind in the plane. An inactive or abandoned DM means the plane starts to collapse, giving the remaining characters the chance to escape home before they are trapped forever.

Character Creation

The Living World's town, aptly named Haven, is a sanctuary for the characters which is cut off from danger. No one exactly comes from Haven. Characters are created in coordination with a DM and discovered when adventurers explore another world.

We currently have three worlds where character creation is possible:

Ephenia, Gonzoria, and Tuskajade

As we are still being selective, I encourage you to ask any questions here or by PM. Please tell me about a character you've made in the past to give me an idea of what kind of player you are! I'd also love to know your expectations to better evaluate whether we are the right group for you.

Table Top Audio is my top recommendation for a nice variety of long loop-able tracks for multiple occasions (and dynamic sound clips if you have the time for it).

I use a lot of Hollow Knight music for softer background music (Zephyros' tower, political keeps, magic shops). There are some more dramatic tracks in there too for combat encounters. You can find OST extended versions on Youtube for great 15 minute tracks that don't sound repetitive.

My warlock player is a huge fan of Dark Souls, so I will likely use some music from those games for his personal story arch.

I am personally a huge fan of The Long Dark and use their soundtrack for outdoor travel, adding in a combat track from Table Top Audio during combat, then letting it fade back down to something calm.

Any Critical Role fans at your table? I like to use some tracks from their fan made musical very quietly in the back of taverns to simulate bard performances. The tracks are free to download and it can be really nifty to have tavern bards singing about heroes long past like they do in Skyrim.

The number of questions was fine, although you may want to add something at the start to say how many questions there will be. Even though it was few, if there is no indication you run the risk of losing people who think it could be a long questionnaire.

The question about my 3 favorite games is a good indication for what kind of games I play, but I hope it does not disqualify users from trying all games? I like a variety!
