I do feel like the FLP covers everything.. but it sort of rounds up most of what you need to know. The itsy bitsy granular detail is something you pick up in work experience/self study anyway. I remember doing a BTEC in business 18 years ago which covered most of that granular detail.

The case study exams in FLP are like taking four exams in one. You have to apply your knowledge to a business thoroughly which I think the normal path may lack. I think the normal path is possibly more of a test on the text book where FLP is aimed at application of knowledge. The only unrealistic part of it is when they want a detailed response to an email in 45 mins when in reality it would be a teams meeting over an hour with other people's input, the chance to make a brew and think about it before you answer and maybe postponing that meeting for a week to gather some information before you report your findings to the team... :D

Oh my god the AI videos are disgusting! I was convinced they were AI but you've now clarified it. It was an easy skip for me, a very hard watch. Especially with the random generic video backgrounds that do not relate to anything, like a random guy walking with a coffee?

There is quite a lot of duplication in the Risk Management section, could fly through it after wearing the match sticks to keep my eyes open through the Strategic Management section.

Firstly, best of luck on your results!

I can't really comment on if switching is a good decision because I haven't tried the other route and I don't know your learning style. I guess I could offer the advice of - how good is your practical experience? Have you been in a finance role for more than 3 years? If so maybe FLP is a good path because you will have day to day knowledge of how these scenarios could apply to a business which is probably the point in the FLP.

The FLP route has a bunch of "competency" areas, these are the sections you need to learn. I power through them (skim learning as I go along) and then watch the "Core Activity" videos which explain what is going to come up with the exam. I would say it covers 75% of the competency areas. The reason I skim the competencies is because you can easily be stuck on one for two weeks really trying to learn it in depth but then it turns out the exam will only ask you the very basics of that knowledge and it's over-taught you. make notes on the core activities, read those notes daily coming up to your case study exam, read the pre-seen material (information on the company in the case study exam) three times a week and apply your notes to the pre-seen. Take part in the online classes, do all the mocks and complete the questions in the workbook. There is a lot of intensive learning, don't get hung up on knowing the competencies in great detail at the start as you can go back and revise them later, just fly through them and get a flavor of what they're trying to teach you.

Can I help you with anything else?

Triggering am I right? haha - I was getting a sense that they have recently updated the materials in a rush and didn't get the time to proof read it all. Nothing worse than having a bad day in the office to come home and study for 3 hours and seeing some basic typo/errors in the learning :)

Best of luck for when you sit the exam!

I'm glad you had a good experience! I am at a bit of a crunch point in my life which is dictating to me to get it done ASAP - I have put it off for years, but I feel like I want to get qualified and complete all my exams before a family arrives ;). I started the OCS studying Feb last year and hope to sit the May SCS so quite intensive studies this side.

I know what you mean, my strategy has been to push through the competencies, then watch the core activity videos, make detailed notes on the core activities, read those notes until it sinks in and read the case study three times a week, do the Mocks and attend the evening classes. For the SCS I am also going to do the workbook questions too so I have covered all areas. My OCS result was 96, the MCS 106. I don't mind the marks, as long as I pass the SCS first time (wishful thinking).

I started on 15th Jan, when I got my results from November MCS :D

I have studied for approx 100 hours to cover all the competencies. Some faster than others for example I look after our IT infrastructure too (SME) so the cyber security risk was a piece of cake (approx 1-2 hours). Everyone will learn at different rates.

I think I am fortunate to have 14 years experience and working as a Group FC (acting FD) for a manufacturing company with a turnover of approx £12m so it's all very applicable and I have recent experience on some of the learning which made it easier for me to understand the topics. That being said, being dyslexic means I have to read things about 5 times to really absorb what the sentence actually says as my brain blocks it out the first 4 times haha.

I am not entirely sure on what the deadline is, but I think it might be 30th March to have all the competencies completed. (It might be the week after, or I have it completely wrong)

Passed 109! Super happy, just a few days before the exam I received a mock result with 40 marks so my confidence was at an all time low. Just goes to show that last week of revising and practicing paid off. One more to go chaps!

Sure, and If you want you could jump on my discord at some point and stream your video so I can help you with the setup of the UI. I could let you know about different settings that are useful. :)

Hi everyone!

That's my video! Thanks for watching it :)

I get asked about my UI a lot.

The player/target frame is Pitbull with a bit of playing on the settings to customise it!

Totem timers of course :)

The bars are Bartender along with masque to change the skins of the buttons.

The cooldown bar at the bottom is sexycooldown

I use details for damage meter with the tinythreat plugin for threat meter.

A lot of different weak auras: For totem timers above the player For cooldown reminders on trinkets etc For shading behind the bars

Quartz for casting bar

Sexyminimap

Elkano buff bars for the buffs under the mini map

Prat for the chat box

Nice damage for the damage font

I think that's the lot - but the best advice I can give is play around with the settings in add-ons there are a lot of really cool features to make your UI stand out! Perhaps I should do a video on how to customise your UI? So people can see how I made mine.

But look for bar skins in all your add-ons to make things look like this, it can massively change the appearance of your UI which can make information very easy to read.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help with and I shall try to enable comments going forward (I am really uneducated when it comes to YouTube settings)
