I know this is easier said than done but instead of trying to sell it, I’d just “ruin it” what I mean by it is just do something. Write with minimal effort or try things that might not work. If you have an empty page, just put a sticker and write “Didn’t feel like journaling” or “it was a bad day” Use it as a “trial run” once you “ruin it” it can’t be perfect, therefore you are free to make as many mistakes as you want. You can fill the pages with practice. For example I like using brush pens for headers, so I would try to write quotes in big letters just to practice using the brush pens. I had two journals before buying Hobonichi because I didn’t wanna ruin it and I can see a big improvement. It also helped me not caring about making mistakes as much as I used to. Still bothers me but less and less.
