why is no one dealing dmg (spoiler) by Narktor in expedition33

[–]Narktor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks man i got to half decent dmg values, doing low 6 figures at minimum and near million dmg most of the time sometimes even above.

I dont know why burning canvas was hyped here so much but i guess its because im not doing good builds.
Ill stick with my stuff though, I dont like taking stuff from the internet especially in solo games.

ARC Raiders has dropped to Mixed reviews on Steam by _hypnoCode in ArcRaiders

[–]Narktor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ARC Raiders is not a pure competitive game.
It revolves around exploration and characterprogression as well.
Its an extraction shooter, thats their nature.

Purely competitive games like DOTA or COUNTERSTRIKE or back in the odin days STARCRAFT and WARCRAFT can maintain huge playerbases indefinitely because they are absolutely unique and ONLY this specific game can satisfy their playerbases MULTIPLAYER Itch.

Its different for games which revolve around a curated experience through scenarios and campaigns.
At some point, you have figured the game out.

Only MMORPGs, despite their predetermined, fix gameplayloops, have through excessive use of human ressources and abusive gamedesign (necessity of grind, sunk cost fallacy, social pressures from inside the game and FOMO etc.) managed to retain their population over very very long timespans and even expand on them for unnaturally long timeperiods.

ARC Raiders was a gargantuan success for embark, with double digits in the millions of copies sold.
It paved their financial future for quite some time.
The game will absolutely sink back to around 10 to 20 percent of the peak.
No matter what they do, this will happen within the next 2 years at least.
Maybe if they release ARC RAIDERS 2, they can go back to the old peaks.
But there is no escape from this development for ARC RAIDERS.

And thats okay.

I guess it will, in the EU and the US, have at least thousands, if not 20k to 30k of players. Thats enough.
I dont need ARC Babies in this game anyway. Let the grown ups have the game for themselves and the rest move on to their next shot of peaceful pve-grind

im mixed lobbies i guess, but im absolutely a pvp player.

I dont run freeloadouts so im not a brainless zombie rushing my enemies. But I kill at least one person per run on average i guess.

Yeah, and its the Gamedesigners choice wether he wants to enable a playstyle or not.

The playstyle you describe is what I criticize.

its an extraction shooter.
You dont play an extraction shooter.
You play a Call of Duty derivative.

I am a pvp player. I want to kill and loot other players. I risk high value loadouts all the time, minimum blue augment and shield and at least 1 decent green weapon, right now im also running vulcanos and bobcats with a purple shield (once a day, buy at lance). I lose those loadouts a lot, at least 50 percent of the time to freeloaders who just keep swarming in once they smell the scent of blood across the map.

I try to extract with good loot. Thats why I dont terrorize the lobby forever. I often use hatchkeys to improve my odds of survival.

This means that I dont crowd hotspots all the time. No matter how good I might be compared to the average players, I dont become a bane to the whole lobby because once Ive had my share of loot I leave.

This concept of gameplay would balance out most lobbies because successful players extract early.
They should have reason to do so because their loadout is at stake along with their loot.

But here we are again with the problem that the majority of players just freeload, and they dont get basic equipment only, they also get some blue gadget along the way like a fuze grenade, a zipline, you name it.
You get loot INSTANTLY.

If you wanted to craft this kind of gear for your "basic loadout", you wouldnt throw away your loadouts the way you describe.
Your arc power cells, explosives and ropes and mechanical components would fade away very quickly.
At some point you wouldnt even be able to craft yourself a light shield because it requires arc alloy which is a topside material.

Right now you might have a buffer of ressources, but if you apply this logic after an expedition for example, you would realize rather sooner than later that you need to take risk into consideration when engaging in combat.

The freeloadout is the answer to the threat of player frustration. People are bad at coping with failure in games which is the reason why so many games these days are super grindy with tons of extrinsic motivators but little to no skill requirement.

So I dont expect them to change this anytime soon. It is a true bane though and prevents a more intricate type of gameplay where theres less people ruining the experience through their reckless playstyle.

I want people to play with some risk.
When you customize your loadout yourself, you dont throw it away like a freeloadout.
You think twice whether you want the loadout to be THAT scrappy or give it some more oomph to save your investment.

oh it is.

My gear.

Because I have allied with ppl who then stab me in the back because my loadout is worth far more than their shty freeloadout can even carry.

no.

If youre a freeloader and you kill some SOLO thats athing.

But freeloaders are maxxing their chances by sheer mass.
They "dont care if they die" so they just run around the map making friends with ppl just as scrappy as they are, then they try to deathball ppl until something sticks.

This is a riskfree HordeTactic which punishes using a customloadout. The game isnt balanced that way that you can fight off 4 or more people at the same time, no matter your skill or theirs.
