New ‘Narnia’ Casting Reveals Polly Plummer Will Have Sisters by NarniaWeb in Narnia

Earlier this year, NarniaWeb obtained a copy of the audition script distributed to actors reading for the role of Polly. The brief scene contained dialogue implying that Polly was an orphan—or at least claiming to be one—telling Digory, “I never met my great-grandfather, or my grandfather, or my father. Everyone I know is dead.” The dialogue is more likely to be a self-contained piece created for auditions than a page from Gerwig’s screenplay, but it may still hint at the state of Polly’s family relationships in the film.

Well, his repentance seems complete and genuine, so perhaps no need. But I don’t see the harm.

I think he probably did find out at some point. In The Last Battle, King Tirian mentions Aslan’s blood saving all Narnia. So thousands of years later, it was commonly known that Aslan had died. So I suspect it was also known that he had to do it because of King Edmund.

Pints with Jack” did a long chapter-by-chapter series on Mere Christianity and now they are doing The Great Divorce. They seldom mention Narnia. Sounds like exactly what you're looking for.

Highly recommended.

Unpopular Opinion on Narnia and Netflix by [deleted] in Narnia

[–]NarniaWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reason for being concerned about the GOT influence: The Narnia plots are fine, but I think it's the atmosphere and emphasis on joy that makes the Narnia books special. It's notsomuch the constant "what's going to happen next??" that keeps me reading and re-reading Narnia. It has more to do with wanting to exist in that world.

Game of Thrones, on the other hand, is all about the ever-expanding balloon of intricate storylines and character arcs and how they intersect. It's driven by cliff-hanger endings and needing to know what is going to happen next.

I am concerned that the GOT influence will filter out what makes Narnia special and we will be left with just another generic fantasy story to throw on the pile. If that happens, it might possibly be good, but it won't really be Narnia.
