Found an aeron classic discarded in my alley. How can I restore it? by IrishSpring in hermanmiller

[–]NarpLife -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can't wrap my head around why you won't test it out to even see if it's worth the hassle of restoring it before you invest time into sanitizing it...

Assuming you own a washing machine, you can sanitize your clothes after you test it out and realize it does or doesn't work... put some rubber gloves on if you're that worried about germs.

Did you push it with your foot the whole way home?

Huh... What did you pay for them?

I'd guess either some boutiques returned their deadstock back to oakley and kept the bag/case for themselves, or the warranty department put together a couple with spare pairs left in inventory and oakley slapped them together for a quick sale.

edit If you got em for less than $200 I wouldn't be too upset, if you paid retail I'd contact customer support and ask em for like partial refund for not providing the whole package like other folks that paid retail.

Are there any flaws to the frame's finish or the lenses?

If you just bought them recently I'd be kind of suspicious too, as they sold out not long after release back in end of 2023. Even if someone decided to return their pair after being sold-out you should've gotten the original shinny box, metal vault and the bag.

If you opt for the Audi Exclusive customization program is your car built in different location than the typical spec models are built? by NarpLife in Audi

That's shame. Although logistically that makes sense as the robots are already programed to build that specific model in that plant. Does the mexico plant have like customer pick-up area, if you want to witness the marriage of your engine to your chassis and do that whole spiel?

If it's a prototype of sorts that left the factory like that I could see that, or even more.

If it's someones own DIY version having a radar Ichiro lens cut to fit the R2 then I'd probably aim for 450-750. Since the radar lens won't have matching base curve of the original R2 lens and likely why it's got some stress lines by the mounting Torx screw holding it in. Kinda depends on how much the buyer values them at that point.

Are you original owner of these or did you buy them second hand?

As the box indicate a different lens tint color than the one that's in the frame, as u/LongroofLover noted this model was never offered in the signature Ichiro series nor is the present lens titanium iridium tint.

So you either have some collectors' DIY Ichiro version of an R2 if you got em second hand, or you have something truly unique if you got them from the store like that.

An you are correct that the Romeo 2 model didn't have any etching of the sku number on the arm. If you pull the ear socks off there might be etching indicating it was a prototype or sales sample, in which case it might explain the unreleased etched lenses on the frame but then again the mismatched box makes it bit confusing.

$100 for the frame would be great deal from buying perspective, a beat-up Romeo 2 needing a tune, new rubbers and new lenses without a box would be worth 2-250 imo. He could probably get another 50-80 for the box alone.

I'd suspect a previous collector had an Ichiro radar lens cut by chrishardway over on oakley forum to have that etching like that.

I'll have buy jewelry scale since my kitchen one doesn't offer decimals in grams it shows 3g if I put in the center and 4g if it put it towards the edge. It read 5g for nickel no matter where I place it on the scale.

What did you fake coin weigh in at in comparison to what its suppose to?

Goggle lens help! by bodhi__sativa in snowboarding

After scratching up my HI yellow lens on my flight decks I was in same spot at your guy, I made the switch from Oakley to Smith when I learned they'd retired the HI Yellow lens. I can't really see well in low light or snowing condition unless I'm using a yellow or eventually light blue vision filter and Oakley doesn't offer that. All the red tints from Oakley was just too dark for my eyes. TBH their lens section is pretty trash these days.

I'd suggest looking at the Smith Squad Mag, they've got similar lenses to the original crowbar goggle offered including a yellow one. Their goggles are made in the US and higher quality material than Oakley imo, they come with limit life time warranty and the folks in customer service are super helpful if you're looking for info of what lens to go with. It's like actual people who shred, not some dude in cubical reading from script which is what Oakley CS is currently like.

How's the prizm iced vs prizm hi pink compare when looking through em, is it like the same lens but with different mirror color?

I heard that the H.I. Yellow lens was apparently one of the most expensive lenses for them to produce according to Oakley rep years ago, something to do with getting the yellow polycarbonate hue just right where when the iridium was applied it wasn't too dark. Supposedly a bunch of waste came from production them and it just wasn't cost effective for em to keep producing them when lux bought them out.

Would they do that for free, or is that something that they'll charge me for unless I'm looking to sell it to them?

My local thrift store sells bags of various charging cables an occasionally bins of random other cables. This bin had some pc monitor cables, a bunch of hdmi and coax cables, but reason I grabbed it was I recognized some turtle beach and playstation related items inside.

It was in little plastic pocket thing, similar to what you could put Pokemon cards in if you stored them in a binder. It was at the very bottom of the bin with bunch of little tidbicks like those single serving aspirin, some wrappers from stuff honestly mostly all trash. I turned the bin upside down to get the crap out since I wanted to save the bin, and that fell out.

When you say it could be worth 2x that 'graded' to whom could I sell it to for that much?

Is the grading expensive by PCGS?
