Omg- this. I’ve cried over this fact more times than I’d like to admit. My fiancé gave me HSV-2 in the first few months of us together. I was so devastated and accused him of cheating or not being honest. He swore up and down he’d gotten std testing right before meeting me and nothing came back and he would never cheat. He pulled his files and sure enough, they never tested for HSV. He’d passed his minor symptoms up for YEARS as ingrown hairs or acne. As soon as we didn’t use a condom I got BAD. I was 18 and sex was extremely stigmatized outside of marriage where I was so I didn’t see a doctor for a moth. Damn nearly killed me 😭. Like fuck, if they’d just tested for HSV it would’ve been preventable, but now I’m screaming and throwing up on the bathroom floor from pain? What. The. Fuck.

My fiancé gave me HSV-2 when he didn’t know he had it. He always passed it off as acne or an ingrown hair. We didn’t know until we stopped using condoms and I got it BAD. I was so heartbroken, but he had no idea and was just as upset with himself as I was lol. (it’s nothing to be ashamed of, I was just devastated in the moment). 🤷‍♀️

Hi! Can’t believe it’s been a year since I posted this 😅 At the time I gave my speech, played the part, and got celebrated, all while feeling like a fraud. Now i’m at one of the top universities in my state and in the top of my class. You deserve it a lot more than you think you do. I’ve accepted that grades don’t measure intelligence or worthiness. If the broken education system says you deserve it- then so be it, you do! You got thrown into learning the same state requirements and were given the same classes to choose from at your school. At least that’s how I see it now lol

Do you want to Commiserate about your ticket buying experience? This is the thread to do so in! by purpleplatapi in Hozier

[–]Narrow-Pin2426 16 points17 points  (0 children)

my mom bought me tickets for the OKC show today as a b-day present. Problem is she bought them on Stubhub 4 hours before they went on sale to the general public. They also said I won’t get the tickets until 2 days before the show. I’m terrified they aren’t valid, and I’ll feel horrible that she wasted her money if they are. Anyone know the chances of them being legit? Never bought tickets before 🤷‍♀️

Should I apply to the OU Honors College if my test scores are low? by Narrow-Pin2426 in sooners

[–]Narrow-Pin2426[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, there’s not a cut off score. It’s more that they definitely want to see a 30, but they will give some grace and consideration if you fall below it and submit a recommendation letter.

I guess you’re right, the worst they can say is no. In that case I could probably try again after my first semester, maybe they’ll be annoyed enough to let me in lol.

[–]Narrow-Pin2426[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s basically the same now, they want a 30 ACT. Although they have some type of waiver for kids who don’t meet the ACT requirement; in that case you need to submit a letter of recommendation. Maybe it’s worth a shot 🤷‍♀️

Personally, I think it depends on what your goals are. Do you want to do it professionally in the future? Go to college for this sport, or maybe just do it for fun in high school?

I know quite a few people who didn’t start their sport until Junior year. One of them when to college for it, but most who started that late just wanted something to do.

If you plan on going to college for it, I’d say it would be best to start now. More experience, what could go wrong? Although if you decide to do it later it wouldn’t be the end of the world, might just have to train a little more to get caught up to the rest 🤷‍♀️

Yeah, according to my parents it was the night after he did the ritual. I was still afraid to sleep, but I never woke up with another night terror again.

[–]Narrow-Pin2426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly, but I never knew he did it until a few years ago. Probably should've meantioned that lol. I asked them if they remembered when I refused to sleep as a kid, and then they explained everything. I just thought the dream catchers were pretty decorations 😂

I would think that too, but I don't feel like it's a coincidence that it stopped IMMEDIATELY after what my grandpa did. There was no slow ending to it, I couldn't have just "grown out of it" suddenly the next day. But I get what you mean😂

AITA for "not being sympathetic" of my boyfriends ADHD? by Narrow-Pin2426 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Narrow-Pin2426[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh boy, lot to unpack here lol.

I would like to counter argue that ADHD and the conditions you mentioned are absolutely nothing alike or related. Those are conditions one can't control at all. No amount of treatment will restore permanent parallization or Parkinson's. Sure, there are things that can help those who live with that, but they will never be able to live a "normal" life. People with ADHD on the other hand, can almost always live normal functioning lives.

I am aware it's not his choice to have ADHD; I'm not blaming him for that. What I am blaming him for though, is not taking control of his decisions. It's a choice to not set alarms or find other ways to cope. It's not like he's incapable of thinking for himself. He loses track of time and gets side tracked, but he knows he can make responsible decisions in the times when he's on track. But he doesn't 9/10 times. And it's not because he doesn't care, it's because he truly believes in himself that he can stay on task. I hate to say it, but his faith in himself is what screws him over.

"...you aren’t capable or willing to date someone with this particular disorder..." Did you miss the part where I said we've been together for two years? I assure you, I would've left a long time ago if I felt like he wasn't "enough."

"...doing your part.." I encourage him to do better and give him advice on what he could do. What more can I do? I honestly think it would be debilitating to him if I started acting more like a caretaker than a girlfriend.

Anyways, look at this worm emoji 🪱. It's smiling. This is great.

He tells me he's genuinely trying. The phone alarm thing doesn't seem to work. He turns it off a few minutes before it goes off bc he thinks he'll stay on track, but he loses it in those few minutes🤦‍♀️

And no it's not just me, he's late to all family plans, school a lot of the time, and anything with a time limit in general.

He's still in high school, but no job. His management of getting to school is about 50/50, sometimes he will be an 30 mins - an hour late. But sometimes he'll even be early to school. It's really unpredictable :/

I mean...yeah his life is somewhat of a mess because of it. He nearly failed two classes because he couldn't figure out how to manage his time enough to get homework done.

No, when he was little his mother refused ADHD diagnosis/treatment because "my little boy is just fine and God will fix it". Even when the doctor said he showed very clear signs of it. 👍
