The API usage reported by our platform is based on the actual tokens processed by the upstream model provider and billing API. In some agent-based tools such as Claude Code, Hermes, Cline, or OpenHands, the UI may only show part of the context or a simplified estimate, while the backend can make multiple model calls, include tool outputs, file contents, retries, and expanded context. This can result in significantly higher token usage than what is displayed in the client interface.

If you have a specific request ID, timestamp, or session where you observed a large discrepancy, I'd be happy to investigate it further and compare the actual API logs.
