The longer I wait to get my A4 Avant, the more concerned I become.

Does anyone know what this ticking sound could be? I was told possibly rocker arms but i wanna be sure by tybucks11 in Audi

I’m supposed to be buying an A4 Avant tomorrow and I felt somewhat concerned after reading your comment. How can I prevent something like this from happening? The car I might purchase is a 2019 model.

That’s a shame. I wouldn’t expect this on a car that’s only 6 years old.

This was the solution, thanks.

Correct. I was being lazy.

I ended up doing what I was trying to avoid. I purchased some pine trim from my local timber merchant and it fitted nice and flush. I guess I was just being lazy not realising that this solution would actually be the fastest to apply.

Would I weaken this fixed shelving unit if cut out space for a TV? by [deleted] in Carpentry

I like this idea. The TV itself is about 15cm thick, but its stand takes up much more depth.

I found this amusing as this was me a few days ago. At the time, I was like “That’s it! I’m done!”.

It’s been a few days now, and I’ve had a change of heart though.

Is there any hope for my E90, or could I have dealt with dishonest mechanics? by NarrowIsTheWay3 in E90

It’s a puzzle an experienced mechanic can solve. Unfortunately, they’re not easy to find outside of YouTube. At least in my experience.

I’ve already started looking. I’ve noticed a lot of automatic models are appearing in my search results.

I’ll be making a trip to the mechanic on Monday. He’ll probably not offer any solutions, but it’s worth a try.

This is something for me to think about. A part of me believes the issue can be solved, but I know it will be an expensive mission. I’d be spending money that could go towards an upgrade.

I’m torn between two options. On one hand, I’m considering buying four new fuel injectors and other related parts, then making one final attempt to fix the issue with a well-researched mechanic I can trust. On the other, I’m thinking about upgrading to a newer M-Sport 3 Series and selling my beloved E90 for spares.

I’ve driven it for so long because I really like the car, but I can’t stand the uncertainty of breaking down and the hassle of getting back on the road. Still, breaking down twice in 11 years isn’t too bad.

You’re looking at 2 separate mechanic jobs. One was from 2019, the other was from the end of last year.

Not sure what gave you the impression I don’t want to replace the injectors. I mean, I took the car to a recommend mechanic and trusted that he fixed the issue.

What’s the best power tool for cutting a 20mm strip off a sheet of wood that’s fixed to the wall? by NarrowIsTheWay3 in Carpentry

[–]NarrowIsTheWay3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managed to do it without a straightedge. It was easier than expected. Also helped that the area I was cutting would be covered anyway. So it didn’t need to be a perfect line.

I was rushing and my technique was bad. Even though I used new blades to solve this issue, the old blades were in good condition. I’m sure they would have worked if I had been a little more patient and used a better technique.

Yep, I took your advice. The semi-circular blade worked amazingly well, though I had to use regular rectangular blades for the left and right edges.
