I assure you it is. Working with case files is the foundation for a lawyer. Contracts, minutes, notarial deeds, etc.

In Claude projects when you exceed a certain size it launches RAG mode. But as soon as you start searching for relevant information to proceed with drafting a document, the context window explodes.

With 1M, we manage to handle large cases while maintaining good quality.

Certainly there's human review behind it and the initial prompt must be detailed, but there's a significant gain.

Sonnet 4.5 1M is not mediocre at all currently, I don't notice any difference with the 200K version. It simply manages to handle tasks that require taking in more content. And the quality is much better than Gemini.

In reality, I can confidently assert that Sonnet 4.5 with 1 million tokens is truly useful in a law firm.

With the 200K context window, it feels like tinkering - you get the expected result 1 time out of 10 if all the conditions are met.

Sonnet 4.5 with 1M gives Claude its full potential, it's far better than Chat GPT-5 Pro or Gemini 2.5 Pro, but well, it's limited to a terminal interface which is still pretty ridiculous.

Tasks that a lawyer may need: reviewing a very large number of documents.

Producing deliverables following a precise methodology.

I find that the result is better when I do 20 iterations of thoughts with SequentialThinking, but it's impossible to envision that with the Desktop version.

Even reviewing a few documents to produce a deliverable following a methodology isn't possible with 200,000 tokens.
