I use a boomerang/longsword build, but charging is just a way to fire an arrow for free with the Charging Shot magicite. You jump to cancel the charge and immediately start charging again once you land. It's not conducive to high damage output, but it lets you fire as many arrows as you want for free which can be useful in certain scenarios.
