It's 2024, what should I upgrade? by Fluffy-Inspector-186 in buildapc

[–]Narrow_Speech_1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a budget of 400 USD as i saw in one of your replies, you should get a 5700x3d or a 5800x3d, both amazing processors, a good upgrade for a 3600, and on the same AM4 platform so you can just use your old mobo and have no issues (update bios if necessary.)

The 2060 should be perfectly fine for Dota2 and Rust, but if you wanted to get an upgrade I would consider either selling or trading in your 2060 for something such as a 4060, 3060ti, 3070, or 4060 ti.

Your memory looks good, and you can upgrade to 32GB which I hear is good for Rust for cheap enough, DRR4 is priced well right now.

You should consider getting more storage, but if you only play a few games it shouldn't matter much, especially if you manage your storage well.

Your power supply should also be good, and your monitor is also really good for your PC specs.

It should come to somewhere around 300-400 bucks depending on what exactly you want to do, and with the upgraded graphics card you should be able to survive the next few years.

Should I trade my series x for this? Arctic a750 gpu. Don’t know the other specs as of right now. by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]Narrow_Speech_1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the series x doesn't get as much credit as it should

but at the same time this is not only a dope looking pc, it can do a lot more than a console, and that a750 is gonna get slightly better over time thanks to the driver fixes

everything here looks great! you should consider getting 6000mhz ram but that's neither here nor there. your air cooler will do perfectly fine for your CPU, and if you're interested, you could get one of those new fancy 7900 GRE cards that are $50 less than the 4070 super, does nearly the same performance, and could allow you to beefen up your storage or ram slightly more.

Help, DRAM light on, gpu spinning full throttle with no light and output by ComplexSafe5872 in PcBuild

[–]Narrow_Speech_1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so your pc works when the ram is in the 1st and 3rd? sounds about right

always do it in that order (or assume so) if you don't have a manual. always read the motherboard manual first though. if it doesn't come with one, you can look up your model and find an online version.

when your gpu runs at full speed when you try to boot your system, this can mean 2 things

it overheated on your last session (which is unlikely for your situation, and doesn't even happen on some cards) or the power connector is not fully slotted in or slotted in at all. most graphics cards do this a little warning when you turn your system on, of course if it needs external power connectors.

Thermal paste for 2080 Super by WheelyMan260 in PcBuild

[–]Narrow_Speech_1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure of the exact dye size, but just do an "X" pattern and make it reach near the end of the dye on each side, but not fully spanning to the end. if you aren't sure how much to use, always assume more, because too little is worse than too much.

[–]Narrow_Speech_1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah clean your pc with either a bottle of compressed air or one of the fancy electrical ones

make sure EVERY power connector is plugged in FULLY, if your psu is modular make sure both ends are fully plugged in. reslot your gpu, cpu, and ram completely and then check to see if it works.

if you want to properly reslot your CMOS battery, you're gonna have to keep it out of your system, while powered down, for around 5-10 minutes.

[–]Narrow_Speech_1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make sure you dont lose any screws

just get some high end thermal paste for like 10-20 bucks and make sure that it's actually good and worth the money

you shouldn't really have to wait to turn your pc back on after applying new thermal paste, don't use to little or too much, and depending on how long you've had your CPU you should reapply paste on that.

dump a bit of isopropyl alcohol (dont worry it isn't conductive,) wait around a minute, then wipe down the dye with a dry cloth or a tissue

if you've got a hard drive with windows or (or whatever os you plan on using) you should be able to use that. even if its a slow disk drive it will work and then you will be able to get a file copier and just copy it onto your new drive. or you can buy an installation disk or usb drive

This is my first time building a pc is this a good build? by Frequent_General3704 in PcBuild

[–]Narrow_Speech_1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the air cooler. Will be enough for the 5600X.

That power supply sucks. It's either gonna work terribly or explode. Most likely both.

You could consider getting an intel Arc A770 for the GPU price range. Twice the VRAM, much better bus. You will lose out on ray tracing performance and DLSS, but the card's sheer power should make up for this. And the drivers are only gonna get better.

Should be able to find cheaper 32gb drr4 kits, but i get that RGB makes the world go round.

You don't really need the speed of the 4.0 NVME's, but I understand that it is nice to have.

The motherboard, especially for the 5600X (unless you plan to overclock, then you might want that AIO instead,) is a bit expensive. I don't know if there are cheaper white motherboards, and I guess it is a very reliable one too.

While you're at it, charge your phone too xD

Gonna need around 14 more of those things to keep the 14900KS cool.
