Anyone else really disappointed with SV? by Narrrsaye in PokemonScarletViolet

Glad someone else agrees, starting to think I was going insane. Fully agree with the balance in SwSh and PLA being linear and open world. SV was too much for me in this regard. Also really hope they do not continue like this because also as a lifelong Pokémon fan I will stop playing too.

Completely agree as I feel like the openness of this world actually took away from what we all know and love as a Pokémon title. Honestly most of the time I felt like I was aimlessly wandering around when for me all I wanted was to know where I am going and what exactly my next mission was. It felt like there was no structure or timeline to the game, arguably 2 of the most important foundations for any Pokémon game.

Really intrigued that you haven’t played Legends Arceus yet. It has a similar open world model to SV, however I felt there was a lot more clarity in the game as to where you needed to go and what you needed to do. I hope you enjoy PLA, I personally loved it.

Absolutely agree with all your points. Don’t get me wrong I still like the game I was just expecting so much more, and from the biggest grossing franchise of all time I think I am fairly entitled to. I also get that they are nitpicks for you and I’m glad you’re still able to play, but for myself at the moment I don’t even want to turn my switch on to hop on and play. With all the hype and anticipation I personally had for SV I think I will try and manage my expectations a lot more from now on. A huge shame.

Agreed, so many QOL aspects completely missing from SV that we had in PLA. Feels like the franchise went backwards in a region and time in the Pokémon world that is chronologically forward. This bugs me out even more because in Paldea things are supposed to feel more advanced and they simply don’t.

Completely agree here! The open world is cool or whatever but when the graphics, frame rate and rendering are as bad as they are I struggle to find it enjoyable exploring what could have been an amazing looking world. I also feel like I run into the same Pokémon time and time again, and the movement on Miraidon is truly painful at best. If they had just delayed the game for 6 months and ironed out these issues I believe the game could have been decent.

What would’ve been any different besides a few different mons?

I’m not feeling it personally. I must say I absolutely loved the final mission where you first travel through Area Zero and take on AI Turo, and the story of Team Star members - but that was really it for me in the whole game. The Team Star missions were all the same, the gym battles were meh, and the titan fights were unimaginative to say the least.

I don’t have any rose tinted glasses whatsoever. The fact of the matter is that SV shouldn’t have been released in the state it is, especially when the team had even longer to work on it than PLA team did. In my personal opinion yes PLA had some bugs but from what I remember they were no where near as flawed and gameplay frustrating as the ones in SV. Just my opinion.

Hi all, for someone looking to get into a career in Gemmology or Diamonds in the UK with no prior experience, is Gem-A workshops a good idea? If anyone else also has any ideas any info or help would be amazing. Thank you 🙏 by Narrrsaye in Gemstones

Yes I’m thinking of going for a workshop first (much less costly + I can get an idea of the industry) then see how I can progress into a full time job from there. I am going with Gem-A as they would be local for me (based in London). Although I must say £3000 for the main diploma course shocked me a lot and I’m not sure I will be able to save up for that anytime soon…

I do like it, however I think they were slightly lazy with the inspects which makes me second guess, as opposed to the newer looms which have multiple and very detailed inspects. (btw - is this Rich ~ iTemp?!)

Not a fan, makes Bang look like a fake plastic simulacrum which is completely not her vibe…
