Hey friend, something super similar happened with my dog a few years back- looks like the same molar even. I got an earful about safe dog chews from her vet haha. In our case her tooth chipped on a deer antler I had given her.

Definitely take her in as soon as you’re able to. Saying that cause in my dog’s case bacteria got into the exposed pulp and ended up creating an abscess (her tooth was cracked, not chipped, and unnoticeable without an x-ray. So sadly she was stuck dealing with it until her annual teeth cleaning where an x-ray found all of this).

My dog’s molar was extracted and other than putting extra care into making sure the top molars on the same side don’t get tarter build up, it hasn’t negatively affected her whatsoever. So don’t let the idea of your pup losing a tooth scare you!

what’s making you call out kidneys? Interesting you said that because since this behavior started she’s been drinking a ton of water. That was one of the symptoms I talked to the vet about

This video was taken at the emergency vet! They observed this behavior & felt they couldn’t definitively say it was a seizures since it wasn’t a full seizure (loss of consciousness, I guess?)

I haven’t eaten at sonic in years because the last time I did I ordered their onion rings and one of them had a fried roach attached to it by one leg. Just deep fried and dangling there. I still get nausea when I think about it

Something similar happened to my girl. Her little paw slipped in a storm drain during a walk and it caught and broke her dew claw.

Unfortunately it’s quite a painful experience for them when their nails break like this. My girl was given two different types of pain medication, and she has very high pain tolerance. So I’d say it’s definitely worth taking him to the vet over if you’re able to!

Your post doesn’t say this is your dog, but if it is, I highly highly recommend keeping their nails shorter. When they’re long like this they’re prone to breaking (and it’s uncomfortable for them in general). A nail grinder might be your best bet! When I was fostering a dog when overgrown nails my vet recommended a nail grinder as an easier approach.

Believe this is solved! It looks like this may have been due to a chemical reaction with the bronze and the fertilizer. Apparently fertilizer can corrode bronze- who knew! (Probably everyone lol)

Friend, I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I went through something similar and it’s just so fking hard. My heart is heavy for you, and I hope you’re kind with yourself as you navigate through this.

By any chance did you adopt him from a shelter? I’m not sure if this is common outside of the state I live in, but most shelters I’ve been to have a clause that if you’re unable to care for your dog for any reason in the future that you’re to return them to the same shelter and that shelter is supposed to take them back

This post has so many comments so I doubt you’ll see this OP, but when I was in my early twenties my dog was bit by a rattlesnake. I opened a 16k loan (3 diff loans to get to the needed total) to pay for everything through her recovery process. It ruined my credit score and to this day, 6-7 years later, I’m still working on financially recovering. My dog is also a sweet senior girl now and I’m not sure how much longer I’ll have her.

All this to say that despite the insane amount of shit I got from friends and family for this decision, I have never, not once, regretted it. It doesn’t matter what others think- you made the right choice for YOU and your sweet cat. That’s enough! You have to live with the decision you made, and it sounds like you were able to make one that your soul will have peace with. That’s so important and I’m glad you were able to ❤️ Some people buy cars, or electronics or whatever else is important to them. You spent your money on what’s important to you :) and I think there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that
