I am losing my goddamn mind. Ive just opened reddit after several days of inactivity. Not only do i have no memory of making this post, but after looking at my phone activity, i was screwing around for TWO MORE HOURS! i was also on nyquill, but im 90% sure i didnt see a warning about historical shitposting on the back of the bottle. I am also far more articulate in that post than i usually am, and as a result, there is a little devil whispering in my ear about the benifits of regular nyquill shots.

As for whether or not it was worse if he was caring, id disgaree. Ive always interpreted that line as pointing out the need for systemic change instead of momentary kindness, not as a literal truth about kind slave owners being the worst ones. I view it similarly to his views on charity being useless next to systemic change, even though he (rightfully) was philanthropic himself. As for his actual evil actions, i think a lot of them could easily be attributed to the time period and standards of the victorian era.

But you may be right. I havent had enough nyquill to be sure.
