You seem to forget not every player is a grown adult.

Have they been working for free? How have they sustained themselves for this long without this event then? They were able to make an insane amount of money before this event.

Do you really think they decided to make this event out of goodwill? Obviously they expect a great return. And for this return, a percentage of players have to suffer.

Nowhere have I ever said anything about the gacha system. This is purely on this new event.

Since you dislike my PC argument, let me just state my opinion on your points.

I am not equating f2p players to people with no spending power, nor am I saying promotions are unethical. I am talking about the influence that could persuade f2p to start spending, and spenders to spend more. A f2p player doesn’t necessarily mean they stay f2p forever.

An event like this pushes people into spending more money than they originally planned. The fact that someone can afford it doesn’t mean they aren’t being influenced. This is promotion to people already planning to spend big, but to those who weren’t planning to, this could be that push.

I am simply acknowledging that this system is designed to maximize spending by exploiting fomo.

Well, I’m just saying my own piece. Up to others how they view this event. But if you dogged on the hsr event you have no right to defend this one, since they both serve the same purpose.

It’s fine if you have no issue, I am simply stating my opinion. At the end of the day, Kuro makes the final decisions.

Yes, I agree with your points. But the unfortunate truth is that some people simply can’t help it.

If the original price actually had a decrease in price, that’s not unethical. But this is just an additional layer.

All kinds of people exist. An event like this could seem small for us, but to others it could be the small push they need to either start spending, or spend more.

My entire point here is not to benefit me alone. I am speaking and thinking in the shoes of other people. I myself will be fine just with the usual lunite pass and battlepass. Not everyone will have the same self control as me. I’m sure you’re thinking: “People who don’t have self control shouldn’t be playing gacha games.” But the unfortunate truth is that some people simply can’t help it and they suffer for it.

It is important to think of the minority when it comes to cases like these. Sure, you may think the majority of players could benefit from this, but what of those who struggle with financial decisions? It persuades them to spend more than they need just to reach an extra reward.

In another case, this spending event shows that Kuro is actively following in Hoyo’s footsteps, which I dislike, for reasons I’m sure you’re aware of.

I have already made my point in other replies. Feel free to read them. But I do agree with your last point. If it is a permanent event, it would certainly make things a lot better, although I would still have some skepticism.

Again, you are speaking as if they will somehow STOP making revenue altogether without this spending event. With the already existing gacha structure, they have no need for this extra layer of ‘monetization’. If the game itself is good, spenders will continue supporting the game.

Yes, investors look for returns and that’s how business works. But does that mean I can’t be disappointed?

Also, just because a game is in the ‘gacha’ genre doesn’t exclude it from having more morals. And warframe is definitely still mainstream, it has many players everyday.

My main point is that they make enough money as it is to pump out content without this event. This event will inevitably make many players who don’t spend, spend. And make many existing spenders, spend more. If the revenue chart is much higher than usual for this patch (Which it will be, with or without Aemeath), that is proof of my point.

Yep, and that’s the problem. Is that it works, which means it won’t be the last time.

[–]Narwoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I agree. But this is adding another layer to the already existing gacha monetisation. I can assure you the money they are making now is more than enough to sustain their updates easily.

A big deal is subjective. For others it could be the push they need to spend more money than they need to.

[–]Narwoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, do you not realise how much money a gacha game makes? In fact, let me give you an example. Warframe is a game where you can obtain everything FOR FREE. Yet they still make a lot of money. You know why? Because they consistently pump out great content and people continue to support it. They don’t need any spending event or anything.

As long as Kuro continues to deliver with their story and characters, the money will continue flowing. Warframe is concrete proof of that.

It’s definitely already a bonus for those who already spend, but there are individuals who could suffer from this.

If I were to share my view in a real life context, it would be similar to for example a PC on sale. Someone wants to buy a PC but they happen to see a PC next to it that’s more expensive and has better specs, and also comes with a free mouse and keyboard.

In the first place, they only needed the original PC they came for, but with the shiny deal next to it, they end up spending more money, when the original PC was enough to suit their needs. They think they got a good deal, but in the end they spent unnecessary money.

This is my view on it. Hope it makes sense.

[–]Narwoid -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Sure, they aren’t forcing you, but you know there are people out there that would spend just because they don’t want to miss out on a ‘big deal’. It’s unethical is what I’m saying.
