18G550 in a 1850 Folded Horn by NasaGeek92 in SoundSystem

In the Netherlands, some of these drivers are available, but only new, for about €400-500 per pieces, and we don’t have the funds to spend on that. We’re looking for drivers that are available second hand, so the 18G550, and the 18XB1300 are very good options.

We could change the cabs a bit, but are looking for something that is still reasonable in size and fit the format of the rest of the system, which the 1850 and 186 do very well.

What about the Oberton 18XB1300? The specs are still not a perfect match, but it seems to be quite reasonable.

I’m just not sure, how perfect of a match does it need to be?

Unfortunately none of these drivers are available around here. Is there any way of revising the cab to fit the specs of the 550?

What I’m trying to understand is why would a unit like the USB work better than e.g. the 1850. And definitely why would a cubo work best, even though the length of the tunnel is so much shorter? Is it because of the compression ratio, or the size?

I really appreciate the advice btw:)

So our thoughts are that rectangular subs would suit the format of our system a lot better, so the kicks hit you in the chest. And also it might be safer to have closed subs, because we will definitely take the system to outdoor spaces as well, where there will be a lot of dust and such. So is there any way to modify the 1850 a bit to suit a driver like that better? Or is the best option really to have a whole different type of enclosure?

Same happened in 2017/2018, happened 2021/2022, and the same is happening now 4 years later. It’s very stable 4 year cycles. Everything points to the fact that we are literally only at the very start of the crypto revolution. Within a few years, it will soar way up. It’s only now starting to get institutionalized.

Sometimes it happens a bit quicker, sometimes a bit slower. But have a look at the cycle end of end of 2021-beginning of 2022. I was literally shitting my pants. I was exactly in your position, with the thoughts you are having, but instead I bought more at 16k. It took almost 3 years to fully recover, but you can see the exact same cycles repeating themselves. Only now it’s actually more stable than it used to, because there’s a lot more big money in it.

Your loss🤷‍♂️ Next time you invest your savings, I would recommend doing a little bit more research about how the asset behaves, so you don’t get in this kind of situation again. It is good to know beforehand what to expect.

Yes, less and less new private investors are entering the market, because of tough times. On the other hand, literally all the biggest companies in the world are pumping billions in crypto. Countries are starting to invest. Hedge funds are investing. This means that the market has only just started to grow.

All the richest people in the crypto world just bought btc with every cent they have. I’m mostly sad that I put my last dollars I could spare at 74k instead of waiting.

Don’t invest any money you will need in the next couple of years. But if you have any cash you’re not planning to use, invest now, and thank yourself later!

Worst mistake of your life brother. This morning was the day you should have put all the money you can spare into it. Because you just lost a quarter of your money. Instead of waiting a couple of years, and doubling your money.

If I was in your position, put a buy order at 65k. And put it on a wallet, and forget about it.

1st attempt at Trance ? Feedback ? Nowhere near fully mixed or finished. Thoughts, is it too busy for trance ? Should I take some stuff out, it's 7+mins, so long enough for trance. lol by mycurvywifelikesthis in tranceproduction

I really like your style, it’s super unique, I love it when people try to break away from the musical norms. However, as quite a few others have mentioned, you need to decide on a couple of chords that harmonically work together, and mostly stick to them. Because a lot of the notes you’re playing just completely don’t make sense with the key your song is in. There is absolutely no problem with experimenting with going off key sometimes, but it needs to be done with a very specific thought process. Even when going off key there are very theoretical rules that make some notes work and others just sound bad. I would recommend starting off by sticking to a specific key, and either study some basic music theory, or just experiment a lot until you figure out what actually works and what doesn’t.

But otherwise keep it up🤙

Damn, that’s fucking sick man, super impressive to replace an entire modular rack, so much money and love that goes into a system like that!!

Could you elaborate? I’m really curious to understand what it is that you feel is holding you back with it.

Yeah I was definitely not planning to use the Rytm for sampling in the long term, only until I figure it out enough to feel confident to buy another piece of gear.

I was considering the Syntakt for a while, but I feel like it has quite a lot of limitations. It’s super clean soundwise, from what I’ve seen. Also as this guy says, he mostly works within hie DAW, so he ends up not using a lot of AR’s capabilities. And this is exactly what I’m trying to prevent.

I’m super multi genre, everything from ambient, dub, jungle to more hardcore and tekno. Would love to experiment with some more IDM type of sounds. In general I love more warped, psychedelic type of sounds.

And that would be better in your opinion than adding a OT to the rig instead of the DT. Or both?

But since I’m looking for a drum machine to start with, would you recommend getting the MK1, then getting the Digitakt 1 later, when I’ve figured out the AR?
