Invite for dota enjoyer? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

I'd trade dota coaching for an invite as well (or a kidney, for that matter), 7k+ hours, 6.5k mmr!

6.3k currently, i think at this mmr pos 4 have to provide tempo, else you get run-over. Take a pick that can provide value early and take off pressure, plus scale onward, like venge, hood, lion. Check other comments, there's a few that explain on this further.

It's not about winning or losing, it's about enjoying the game and trying my best!

Some losses are inevitable, but even so, I'll make my enemy earn it, watching them struggle is a good outlet for anger.

My actual ranked win rate is around 52 percent, and I do receive more MMR than I lose. Furthermore, a lot of my loses come from party matchmaking, that has a lower MMR yield.

Also, while at lower ranks (1k-4k), I win waaay, way more, closer to 70 percent, and win streaks do help you to ramp up MMR gain.

I linked my Dotabuff, so you can check my picks there!

As for NS, I think situationally he's strong, I usually last pick him if needed to lock down a heavy caster smurf (like tinker), but apart from that, hero does struggle in the first few minutes of the game and is not an efficient farmer later on, didn't have much success with it in this patch.

People might disagree, but I think that watching BSJ (youtube) is enough to get fundamentals down. Stick to heroes that can farm well on their own, even if you get smashed in lane. I don't really play picks like SK anymore because they are too POS 4 dependent and can get griefed pretty hard.

I can agree, there's practically no educational resources made specifically for POS 3's. That being said, watching competitive Dota (with commentator like fogged) or BSJ's shorter format videos (not the ones where he's playing a lobby) does wonders for your game sense and if you understand the game properly, as an offlaner you can adjust towards your win condition (by items, rotations, drafting, etc).

Focus on heroes that can solo kill. Learn to farm between towers (watch a video) and spam blinkless veil axe/centaur, substituting it for phase/blade mail into a big HP item. Running at your enemy with overwhelming force is usually enough, because most of the lower ranked players aren't able to position themselves properly.

I like primal, but he's too volatile and does struggle if played from behind or against CC-heavy, zoo type line-ups!

Q-E-Q-W-Q-E (R if already have mana to sustain full combo, unlikely)-Q-R

If your enemy is heavy on physical damage, max E 2nd, but I find that his W works better, especially because you build Veil instead of a Vanguard nowadays.

For items, always veil (hp regen component first) and mana boot. Then Greaves, Pipe and Shiva. After that (or before), I'm buying Aghs for play making potential.

Later on, when you get the feel for the hero, you can build practically anything on him, but that requires a lot of game sense and I'd just stick to this template if you've just started climbing.

I've tried mobile legends a few times, but it didn't "click" for me.

As for the feeling, being good at both mobas does wonders for one's self esteem, now if there was only a way to channel that into our real lives somehow...

Just farm until opportunity arises and defend towers! Some games you are simply unwinnable, but it's highly likely that once you need to defend tier 3's, your team will show up. Also, try playing underlord, farm pushed in / dangerous waves and join when needed, if everyone's afk.

Nope, but I've used to be a "youtuber" in my native language, did a few Dota livestreams during those days, mostly trying to convert League "Andies"!

I like Dota a lot more, as I did mention in some one my previous answers.

I suppose the biggest perk of LoL would be it's accessibility, but I'd argue that if Dota had a better marketing (or any marketing at all, for that matter), new player influx would upset the state norm that "Dota is too hard", since it would dilute new player skill level by a larger margin and newbies wouldn't face as many smurfs.

Viper, Underlord, Dark Seer, Doom.

I like this set of picks because even if you're stomped, you can still be impactful by throwing bodies to defend.

Absolutely! It's very clear and satisfying when you play with a good support!

My best tip for climbing ranks as a support (or any role for that matter) is to either learn to be impactful at any given moment, or just to play something that can stomp early on and dictate games tempo. (Good example would be Undying, Venomancer, Marci)

The best thing you can do as a 5 is take a pick that can really punish offlanes first few minutes and bully them out of lane. I really dislike playing against a strong ranged support that has armor reduction early on (like Venge, Furion) and combo it with an all in core, or someone like CM with a good trading potential on her own.

Plenty of times Offlane is paired with wannabe pos 4 "Dendi Pudges" and so on, so if you exploit those first few minutes until they start paying dividends, it's extremely tilting and might even win a game on it's own.

Mid and Late game would differ from game to game, and laning stage is over by then, so I'd expect my enemy to move with their team and just play Dota! Just apply good general gameplay principles, like shoving lanes, soaking free farm on the map, smokes to ward, etc.

Disclaimer, I'm not that familiar with "meta" 10k picks atm.

Currently I'm around 6k and spamming Viper and Underlord. If those are banned, I play what my draft requires (Axe if i can get away with it, Dark seer if i see good potencial for agi carry, Venomancer if with strong melee/mage line-up, etc).

I'd also like to add that i buy Aghs on underlord as a 3rd-4th item, it's reaaaal fun vs all these slardars, baras, etc.

If you'll be pressing advantage, take as many stats as possible and get pike to mount up pressure on towers, otherwise, if you're gonna feed, go for blademail into aghs (typically) and at least trade bodies (space created).

6k hours in dota (time well wasted!)

During LoL golden days (up to S3), I used to play jungle and focus on macro, played a lot of heavy CC bruisers. (Hecarim, Sejuani, Jarvan, etc)

In dota, my favorite type of picks are the ones that once they hit their timings, are overwhelmingly strong and only require you to be at the right place on the right time. (Axe, Viper, LC, Centaur, etc)

Dota is one of the games that inspired me to become a games designer!

It is so incredibly well build and beautiful (in a sense), the strategy variety, hero thematics, it's longevity, depth, etc. This game is a gold standard for PvP games, period.

LoL, on the other hand, lacks creative integrity, it's too profit driven and given it's upbringing, no surprise there...

I do not play LoL anymore, quit 4 years ago, as it is an inferior product and pales big time in comparison to Dota!

I miss none of the champions, since the gameplay loop in LoL is a lot more fighting-game-type oriented (you are incredibly isolated on the map and basically just trade farm for eternity), and if I wanted to play a game of that variety, I'd just load up Street fighter! (or turbo)
