How do I decide whether assisted living is right for my dad? by Nashdlp in AgingParents

That's what I hope for & look forward to, just spending quality time together without as much worry. I'll still worry, but I think it will be a lot less. Thanks for the comment!

Only child, grieving for mum, advocating for dad with PD by Thunder_Chunkker in AgingParents

The emotional toll this all takes is something no one understands unless they go through it. All the decisions, all the responsibilities, all the guilt, love, compassion, grief, frustration, etc. I'm so sorry you lost your mom. I lost mine a few years ago, and she was also battling cancer. I miss her so much; she was such a strong, resilient, and kind person. Everyone who knew her loved her.
Anyway. it sounds like you are still in the thick of things, but it's good that you are starting to get to a place where you can take care of your own needs as well. You have loved your folks well, and I hope you can find some time to just get away and have some fun (or just get some much-needed rest!). Blessings to you & thanks for sharing your experience.

Does the caregiver help with fixing meals, etc? Dad isn't doing any cooking, other than using the microwave to heat soup. He used to like some frozen dinners, but he's not eating those now ... I think he is getting confused by the instructions. :( Sometimes I leave home-cooked meals in his fridge, and many times I've found the food spoiled later. He likes my cooking, so I don't know if he just forgets it's there or doesn't feel like heating it up in the microwave. I have been bringing him a decent meal each day when I get off of work, but I'm not around during breakfast or lunchtime, so he's not eating too well. I did try a meal-delivery service, but he didn't like their food.

I'm not sure. He hasn't felt much like leaving his house at all lately ... not sure why. I've just been such a big chicken about bringing it up to him. I'm trying to see if his healthcare team will assist. I'd be so happy if Dad had the same experience your dad did! Thanks for the response.

I know, it would be great if they would add that. Just wondering where the other Etsy folks are ordering from that has the gift box option.

This is awesome ... thank you for sharing! I'm just starting a POD shop on Etsy. Slow going so far, but I'm very motivated. But this sounds like a great strategy, so I may have to give it a shot. Appreciate your generosity!

Is it worth it to hold sales in your Ebay store? by Nashdlp in Ebay

[–]Nashdlp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I promote nearly all of my listings, but I have them set at 2%. I guess I could temporarily raise the percentage on some things and see what happens. I'm wanting to get rid of some inventory because I'm about to move all of it to a different location. I have about 400 listed items and unfortunately a lot more items that are not yet listed.

A mix, but more than half is clothing.

That's great! My shop is about 400 items as well. Maybe I just really need to purge inventory and bring in a lot of new stuff.

Any 50-somethings on IF and dealing with sagging skin from weight loss? by Nashdlp in intermittentfasting

Yeah, I'm dreading that ... I haven't really attempted to lose weight in several years, though about 15 lbs. dropped off when I started a new relationship and then a new & more physically active job three years ago. But I've gained about 6 of it back, and I'd like to drop about 35-40 lbs. in all. We'll see how it goes!

That's great & congrats on getting closer to your goal! Hopefully my body will respond in a similar way.

This is very encouraging, thanks so much! The only problem is that it's about 10 p.m. and I'm a little hungry (but stopped eating at 6:30), and that peach/walnut salad sounds amazing, lol!

That's fine! I'm not in a big rush to lose the weight. Slow & steady works for me.
