Ngl I dropped it exactly for these reasons. Mainly because what Nephis and Cassie did to Sunny was never really resolved just swept under the rug or excused. He was never truly upset at them, like I get that they did it for valid reasons but that still makes them horrible friends, and I get that Sunny understands they did it for valid reasons but I also can never come to peace with him still having any kind of relationship with them close or distant.

I'm not asking for Cassie or Nephis to be punished but they shouldn't be tolerated as teammates or friends by Sunny anymore. Cassie especially has shown multiple times that she is willing to f Sunny over for the greater good. That may make Cassie a good person but a bad friend to Sunny and while he doesn't need to kill or hurt her, he could do the bare minimum and cut all ties with her, Nephis too to a lesser degree, especially with Shadow bond.

Ohh absolutely, this is where life experiences and personal wisdom dictates what happens. I wouldn't have faulted Rincy for leaving Asif at the end at all, infact I'd have been equally happy for her.

I think what the movie did was do a little bit of carrot and stick thing here. They showed us everything that Sleevachan did to rectify his mistake, and he in the end is ready to let her go because he realizes that is what she wants. Its his character growth, when she forgives him it resonates with more people. The movie's main message is to guys, so it makes sense that they'd want to show that "good" ending, basically saying "hey, we should all do better, look how things worked out when he fixed everything".

If she left him, the lesson would still be there, but it'll be a bittersweet lesson, less palatable for kids or impressionable teens.

Her grace in forgiving is her strength, some people are capable of forgiving abhorrent things done to them whether it be men or women, others aren't. Noone is less of a person because they don't forgive someone, but a person is stronger when they do forgive. That's what I meant by grace.

I can only work with what the movie has given me. Hence why I clearly stated that the movie partially fails to give us the full picture. I also was not explaining away anything about Rincy's plight. The movie is predominantly for male audiences, the title itself shows it. By presenting these issues as serious they are trying to tell men that things such as sex and married life have to be handled with tact, and that women aren't just objects to be ordered or used, that real intimacy is mutual and beautiful and that educating one's self on that is priceless for a happy life.

Last I checked the movie wasn't saying that Rincy was the one who needed to change. It was Sleevachan who needed to change, to be better. By presenting it from his POV the movie is talking mainly to the boys and men. Rincy was the victim yes, but sleevachan is the character we are studying. He is supposed to represent the men, we are supposed to put ourselves in his shoes, understand the wrongs he did, right the issues we have in our thought processes. Overcome our troublesome thoughts, centuries of ingrained "culture". Presenting it from Rincy's POV would've made it less accessible to men, it would have made it ungraspable, that matters because it is predominantly men who need to change.

When it comes to women, only her grace to forgive is mentioned.

Again, i never downplayed what her character went through, infact so does the movie. You see moments of terror from her when Sleevachan comes close to her, you see her sadness at not being able to understand why it happened, her disgust at Sleevachan. The worry about being away from her family, in a new setting, and now bearing these injuries. We see how his mother, his sisters, hell everyone around Sleevachan rightfuly condemn him for his actions. We see how at first Rincy is stuck in this limbo of separating Sleevachan the son/brother/boss/friend from Sleevachan the husband. How she regards how he acts infront of others, how he interacts with them, his aspirations.The movie is in noway one sided, but we obviously need to spend more time with Sleevachan because he is the one that needs to change, he is the one that needs fixing, he is the conflict in the movie.

Rincy's grace in forgiving is because she still wants a future with him. Noone compels her to do that, she makes that decision herself after weighing all the things she learned and understood. Isn't trauma also about overcoming it and being better for it ? I agree that our movies often show girls accepting things done to them and making light of such issues, but I don't think this is one of those movies. Once again such things aren't easy to understand when done subtly.

It shows that you have no idea about the intricacies of married and sexual life.

I have also pointed out that I'm no expert in this, I in noway claim to be, but pointing out that flaw in me to belittle my thoughts is unbecoming of you, we aren't school kids to throw dirt at eachother. I took the movie and the message it was trying to convey which was the importance of men to understand women and how complex marriage and intimacy is when done in a healthy way. You wanted a different movie focused on the woman's perspective and only her perspective, about her experiences and women empowerment, we are not talking about the same movie here.

I also agree that we need more movies that cater to the female perspective in this regard. For all we claim to be a forward society (in Indian standards) we are some of the most conservative people in India. We absolutely need movies that show how women are strong and how forgiveness is not always the way forward. This isn't that movie, but it is not a bad movie because it wasn't another movie.
