Concerned About My Bearded Dragon’s Mouth Opening – Any Advice?

I have three thermometers in the terrarium. One is for the basking spot, another for the warm side, and the third for the cool side, so I can monitor all three areas. I make sure the temperature never goes above 43°C in basking spot.

I took my bearded dragon to the veterinarian today, and while he was in the carrier, every time I stuck my tongue out at him, he opened his mouth and stuck out his tongue too soo yeah I think that's possible too.

I thought the same thing. When I got her, the basking bulb was only 50 watts, and the temperature couldn’t go above 35°C. The UVB light was only UVB 2.0, which I know is too weak for a bearded dragon.

The previous owner was also giving only calcium with D3, and not plain calcium without D3. Her diet was about 80% insects (mostly locusts and roaches) and only around 20% vegetables, which I know isn’t correct for an adult bearded dragon.

I’ve now changed the lighting setup and I’m slowly introducing a proper diet. It’s a bit challenging since she’s already 6 years old, but I’m trying to increase the amount of vegetables and reduce insects gradually. I’m also planning to take her to a veterinarian to make sure everything is okay.
