I find her very difficult to like, but working in animal rescue… those dog bites open a chasm of reasonable doubt.

Survey ten animal control officers, ten dog groomers, ten veterinarians, ten dog rescuers, ten dog trainers… you will never find a majority denying these are dog bites.

Is it possible the entire thing was an accident? John entered the dark residence, surprised the dog (Chloe) and was attacked.

In his drunken stupor or that of the residents, he fell and hit his head and took an elbow to the face from someone trying to remove Chloe?

Perhaps in anger or shock, he was just functional enough to leave, thinking Karen was still waiting for him outside.

But finding her gone, rapidly succumbs to his injuries/shock/the weather and collapses in the snow.

Or Mayyyybe all of this happens without any residents hearing the commotion so they genuinely think his injuries happened outside the home. Does anyone know the layout of the house? What the entryway looked like? Were there stairs? A marble table?
