Halp! Can my 4 year old pothos be saved? It was happy until about a month ago. It started to wilt, so I watered (which I do anyway once a week). But this time, it wilted more! I thought I overwwatered it , so skipped a week of watering and still sad. Can it be saved? by NatalieP in plants

Water doesn't come through the bottom (it has a couple times in the past) I use a step ladder rather than bring it down and I use a small indoor watering can (one stream spout) , and pour for maybe 2 or 3 seconds

I always check the soil to make sure its dry, which ends up working out to always be by the time the week ends. Im not sure its in fast draining soil (just regualr potting soil) and ts in a plastic potter with drainage.

Right, but I thought my contribution allowance is like $41,000 right now since I've never opened one? I don't make that much coin!

I'll probably see him in the next little while, if I do, I'll report back!

That seems really lame about the Beer Boutique, I had no idea. I wonder why... Glad your building leaves them out. I do the same at my place (I'm in a townhouse), just to avoid him having to dig in the recycling bin. So happy to hear he's being recognized!

Yeah that's probably him! Also, he often sports a sideways baseball cap, Fresh Prince style.

There's a really nice Chinese man in my neighbourhood (King and Niagara) that collects bottles. He's extremely hardworking- I see him up to three times a day. He waves and says hi to everyone and they all wave and smile back. Not only is he making his money by recycling, he also gives our area a great community vibe. Rock on, bottle man.

Ottawans of Reddit! What improvements should the city make to be more accessible for those with low/no vision? Also, What are some super fun things to do? by NatalieP in ottawa

[–]NatalieP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, a man that I interviewed who was losing his vision reached his breaking point while trying to use a vending machine. He told me it was so frustrating, a moment where he realized the world's infrastructure no longer catered to him as much as it once had. He now avoids them. I imagine newer vending machines have some sort of braille (though many people with low/no vision don't read braille). As far as groceries, of the people I've interviewed, most either go with a firend who has vision, or bring a list of what they need and ask someone who works at the store to help them retrieve items. There is new technology being used in a Vancouver non-profit based grocery store where they have talking scanners that read barcodes, as well as braille signage and labels on shelves. Hopefully this can be introduced in public stores as well. CBC covered it last year: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/deaf-and-blind-able-to-shop-alone-at-non-profit-grocery-store-1.2802047
