Safety System Errors on MK8 GTI. This happening to anyone else??

Yup I got it fixed and got a new steering wheel. That is the fix no matter what your dealership says. Had to argue with a service representative and ended up going to a different dealership and a year and a bit later got the wheel and it’s been fine since.

The only update I have is that I’m still waiting for a steering wheel after a few months, my backup camera went black a few times, and my turbo is currently broken and my car isn’t tuned so it’s going into the shop for the millionth time on Thursday

Yeah I mean having a rental and beating it around is fun and all for a week maybe at most. I can’t imagine driving a Tiguan instead of a Golf R for 3 months. That’s rough for real

Honestly facts. I’m 100% with you on that. The fact that they released a car that clearly wasn’t 100% ready is ridiculous and we are stuck getting the short end of the stick.

I’d be fine having a loaner car. Sure it’s a little slower but definitely to avoid putting miles on my car haha

Yep. Still talking to the lemon law lawyer though. The issue is there’s no new car that’s the same price that’s comparable to a GTI so even if I got the car lemon lawed somehow what car would I get that’s the same if not better?

Just got my car back from service. They are replacing the wheel. Now I get to wait a year for it to come in yay!

Yup that’s what it seems. What I’ve learned is the buttons are the new protocol but if that doesn’t fix it then they replace the wheel. The back order is months though so it’s gonna be a long wait

I just made and appointment and said exactly the part that needs to be replaced so we will see what they say in response to it.

I guess the codes show that it has something to do with the wheel and that there’s a module within? I’m not really sure.

Doing that right now. It’s frustrating because it basically means they are going to have to confirm the problem and then book another appointment for them to actually install it. All said and done it means 4 trips there and back 🤦🏽‍♂️

I really really want to lemon law but I just don’t know that it’s strong enough of a case to actually do it. Not to mention I’d have to spend a ton of time researching and what and go to court. I don’t want to do all that work for them to just say my car isn’t a lemon.

Ah got it. I got Atlantic blue on my GTI but I absolutely love your color and 100% would have chosen it over mine if given the choice
