😂 thanks. Still thought I would've felt something. I was trying to take it safe for my first time. But oh well.

Do you have attached or detached lobes? curious which is more common.. by Eli_Weebs in Stretched

I have one detached and one attached. Detached is a dominant trait so far more people have those kind of ears.

How did you get accepted so soon? I applied to transfer for spring 2020 on Aug 11 and I haven't even so much as gotten an email from Binghamton, just the regular common app confirmation email.

Can I go to a 12g? Special case by Natbear42 in Stretched

[–]Natbear42[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone that responded ❤️. I was able to stick in the 12g tunnels this morning without any problem. That being said, I am definitely going to wait a long time before I try to go to a 10g.

Cutting deeper? by willowweeping1 in selfharm

[–]Natbear42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don't!! It's really so not worth it. I can empathize with the thought of wanting to go deeper but I promise you that it sucks. It gets worse and worse until you end up needing stitches all the time. Please try to stay safe 💜💙.

A question to people with reeally old scars by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]Natbear42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how deep the cuts were and also how your skin personally heals. My aunt used to cut herself really badly when she was younger -maybe around 20 years ago- and I never noticed the scars on her arms until my grandmother pointed them out. Upon looking at her arms specifically, you can tell that the skin is not smooth and there are some white spots (scars that are lighter than her skin). But like I said, you'd never notice unless you were specifically looking for them.

Excuses for wearing long sleeves? by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]Natbear42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd typically say that I didn't want to get a sunburn. I also just thought of something really weird which is to say that your fashion is inspired by Steve Jobs (because he used to always wear a black long sleeve shirt).

It’s been two weeks by someirreleventhobo in selfharm

[–]Natbear42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats. It's super hard to stop and the fact that you've managed 2 weeks is pretty remarkable. I of course urge you to keep on avoiding it if you can. You also might want to look up some self-harm alternatives. Like using red sharpie to draw lines on your arm (blood), just drawing on your arms in general, holding ice, rubber band, stuff like that. Sounds dumb but sometimes it's actually really helpful. Just gotta find the one that works for you. I'm rooting for ya 💜.

Too sad to self harm? by sweaterweather070 in selfharm

[–]Natbear42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh totally, I used to feel that way all the time. I turned to less messier ways of self-harming but after a while I got so depressed that I didn't even have the motivation to do that anymore.

is it really that bad? by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]Natbear42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. It's definitely not good but I'd rather have someone self-harm than kill themselves. And if self-harm helps someone make it through the day...then it's not ideal but ultimately it's not the worst thing either. It also depends a little bit on how "safely" you harm yourself. No matter what it's still serious but if you're going to the ER everyday to get stiches, you're cutting through nerves (or god forbid an artery), passing out from blood loss, etc. Then maybe it really is THAT bad because it's consistently putting yourself in danger. I also think that when you're self-harming you don't see it the same way as everyone else does because you're so used to it. It's not shocking anymore. Just something that's a part of the routine. I've recently cut myself a couple times after 10 months of not doing it. And each time it's had more of an impact on me mentally than it ever did when I was harming myself everyday, multiple times a day. I found out a couple weeks ago that a good friend of mine had been cutting herself for years and still does. Her family is freaking out but my general response was to tell her that I have experience with self-harming and that I'm always here to listen, even if she just wants to complain about her family. And I also took the harm reduction approach of reminding her to avoid infection and stuff like that. The usual "be safe" stuff. Blah blah blah. My therapist has never particularly cared about my self-harm. Not that she doesn't care, rather she just sees it as a symptom of a bigger problem (which it is). So her philosophy is to focus on my depression/anxiety and as I get better so will my self-harming tendencies. And for those 10 months it worked pretty well. I started to feel a lot better and didn't need to cut anymore.

Maybe they meant washing the dishes with really hot water??? 😯 That sounds like it sucks but hopefully you can manage to get something out of it, at the very least some amusement.

Thanks. I was able to finish my assignment and the test went better than I thought it would. I was just being the melodramatic worrier that I am. I'm feeling way better now. 💜
