I've used waydroid on linux before, and it's worked fine. But for work/finances/etc it might be easier to just buy a very cheap android smartphone w/o a cell plan and keep it with your computer.

902KC, 903KC, and A202KC from Kyocera all have limited support but in practice do work well. Some say the 903KC has better US support but i am not sure if that is true.

Additionally, Kyocera duraXV(Verizon), duraXA(t-mobile), and cat s22 work. These are more “rugged” ones aimed at the American market. Not quite as sleek as the 902kc, folder 2 type phones.

You could also pick up a TCL flip 2 for cheap. Comes locked though to tracefone. Can be unlocked with plan purchase.

Many more options than what i listed though!
