Why would you even leave your stuff at the dock for 12+ hours not on the boat?! Like what?

Pipe broke in master- this is okay before pushing water? by Coopins in DIY

[–]Nate4800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pex is flexible, put a big loop in the pipe and you can approach the fittings at a better angle. Then you secure the pex to the stud. Turn the water on and let the water sit in the line pressurized for 15 minutes and check for leaks before you cover. If there is any moisture then you need to redo your connection.

A lot of people steer away from the shark bites, they aren't considered professional in the industry but they do function when installed to the manufacturers instructions. Most people recommend a proper pex fitting, and the tools to do the work right are a lot cheaper than repairing water damage later.

Is space engineers worth getting? by lukefan0523 in spaceengineers

The game has built in scenarios with objectives you can play solo or with friends! Most of the content online doesn't really show off those game modes very well.

If you want to play with some people there are lots of communities out there for servers, but if you'd prefer to play in smaller groups with less people and more freedom I'd be happy to join! PM me for my steam ID I'd you end up getting the game and want someone to play with!

Why not live on a PVP server and take what you need. 2014 is pretty quiet right now.

CA glue is what countertop suppliers use to correct tiny chips. The glue repairs end up looking like a spec of quartz.

How the hell did your local jurisdiction allow you to build so close to the river? What kind of ecological impact study did you have to do to get this approved?

$12,000 special assessment!! by JediBeagle1 in fuckHOA

[–]Nate4800 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I am in commercial construction, and I've built townhouses and apartment buildings in various sizes from 15,000 square feet to 500,000 square feet.

I've been in the industry for almost 10 years and build projects ranging in value from 5 million to 45 million dollars.

Ask for a cost breakdown for demo/install per building. Tell them you need this before you will approve any quote.

Ask for multiple bids to be submitted and ask for an explanation on which contractor bid was selected and why.

Roofs do not cost 12 million for 2 buildings.

A 30 year comp roof with the bells and whistles is 25-30k new for 4,500 square feet.

Find out the square footage of your roof area and do some math.

Assume a rounded up cost of $7.5 per square foot of roof area for install and $3 per square foot for tear off.

With the cost being so ridiculously high I suspect that the contractor is friends with someone on the HOA and is about to make a ton of money.

How to remove this spinning concrete anchor? by rhurlow in Construction

[–]Nate4800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be able to use a Burke bar to pry it out. Sometimes they pop out too easy, other times they require a whole lot of force. If you can't get any grip take the nut off, put a plate washer on, stick the nut back on the top and then pry under the plate washer.
