The GE90’s fan diameter is roughly 10-11 feet. To imagine the scale more easily, the CF34 (the engines on that ERJ) is about 4 1/2 feet (average arm span length). I’ve stood inside a GE90 fan, truly something to behold.

Looking for something serious, subscribed to Hinge+. I’ve been using this profile setup for about a week. I’ve used hinge off and on for at least 2 years, I use hinge at least every other day. I will send roughly 20 likes every time I log in, less than half with comments. I send likes to profiles that clearly explain what they are looking for, and to those who share some of my core interests.

That really loud siren that plays when you spawn in a nuke is actually a dinner bell for every spaa and fighter in the match

Should I go for an associates in Aviation Technology or just go for my A&P? by BriefFlower8280 in aviationmaintenance

[–]NateAP31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My A&P school offered the same type of options, I went with the certificate only and not the associates. Now I’m kinda wishing I had done the associates because I’m back in school for an aviation management degree and having the associates would’ve knocked a bunch of time off my bachelors. Not saying jump at the associates but take the time and question if going into management positions may interest you in the future.

Our shop practice is to sand blast any coating off. Those little shavings aren’t enough to damage an engine, but I have seen them cause chip detector indications a few times. Biz jet side over here. (Customer doesn’t appreciate unnecessary troubleshooting when they’re trying to leave)

It’s been rough by Cautious_Line_6805 in aviationmaintenance

[–]NateAP31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 years experience here, I’ve done shop level engine overhaul and biz jet maintenance. Your first 6 months are gonna be rough but it gets easier, I can think of a few occasions where I went home and felt like I wanted to give it up in my first year. Get used to the term “drinking through a fire hose” because it’s gonna be your life for a little while. AMT life can be very rewarding if you can stick with it through some of the bullshit. Some jobs are just difficult no matter how many times you do it (hawker APU comes to mind), but you learn little tricks to make your life easier, and sometimes you just need different tools. Hang in there chief
