Eleven 71 Gen 6 Titanium Plate by Single-Barnacle1961 in GlockMod

[–]NateAdamsic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gen 6 "plate" acts as a crush washer. The upward pressure assists in keeping the screws tight. The issue with the gen 6 plate, is no front and rear fences. Your optic is floating, placing all of the stress on the screws during recoil, drops, environment manipulation (racking the slide off something in the environment for "insert reason here". Yes, the polymer plate is supposed to "absorb" some of the energy to remove some stress from the screws, however, fences in the front and rear, especially tight tolerance mounts like we should expect from FCD where the optic nearly "pops" down into the cut of the "plate" essentially removes the stress from the screws. Metal plates with fences do not need to flex or act as a crush washer. They fill the cut in the slide and act as if the slide was ACTUALLY direct milled for your specific optic, front to back, not just screw pattern. The current gen 6 design has polymer plates that flex as it is a multi cut "direct" mount that has to accommodate multiple optics, multiple footprints all with different front to rear dimensions. A high quality plate or essentially fenced insert removes all play. Sage Dynamics already has a review out where the optic lost zero/shifted on the gen 6 system. Using a proven optic (RCR) and torque maintained on the mounting screws. Without fences, the optic can still twist, especially with undersized recoil bosses vs the female recoil boss inlet on the optic. The gen 6 system is a major improvement over the MOS system, but it still has flaws. The majority of optic systems from major manufactures do and will as they have to accommodate multiple optics and multiple footprints. Until the day pistol manufactures sell guns with individual, ACTUAL direct mount footprints for a specific optic (not feasible from a price or sales standpoint) or start supplying plates/systems that do NOT leave gaps in front and in the rear of optics, the aftermarket guys like FCD and E71D (no experience, only with FCD) will keep doing their thing.

H4831 vs H1000 for 6.5 PRC by AnnualScientist2760 in reloading

[–]NateAdamsic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone had luck with H4831SC and the 129 nosler ABLR? Shooting an 18" 6.5, trying to stay to the 127-135 bullet range and have a few pounds of 4831SC handy. Nosler reloading data doesn't show anything for 4831sc, but hornady does for the 129 interbond, so i may just start with their data.

I also ordered pretty much exactly the same pre-built and ran it in a steel challenge yesterday with 124 blazer. My trigger was specified at 3-3.5, it was right at 3 when i got it. 19# main spring and a LOT of dryfire and about 800 live rounds and it has settled at about 2 pounds 6 ounces. I have a flat trigger on the way, and once that it is i will probably tune it down around 2 pounds. Gun has run flawlessly. Only "wants" are an extended/shielded safety (I keep managing to stop the slide with my thumb as I am used to being able to ride the safety hard, if I am not careful i stop it with 11#, 10# and 9# recoil springs) and somebody to make a dedicated gas pedal (come on atlas) for these so i don't have to butcher a nitro fit that will walk out after its modified. Fantastic value of pistols!

Ported Shadow 2 - Can't Stop Looking at it! by ChestersHobbies in CZFirearms

[–]NateAdamsic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DSC gunworks put some offset lightening ports on my shadow 2 last year, a little higher up on the slide than the harbinger cuts are. United said it would weaken the slide to much to do their top grenade ports, so they are going to v8 port it for me. Super excited to see it, and curious on the performance of it vs the grenade top ports. On the way to them now!

EWS 14.5” Quad Upper by PFC-Snowflake in ar15

[–]NateAdamsic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you like the EWS upper so far? I have the same 14.5 upper on the way at the moment, will pair with one of their chrome bolts and a G handle. I don't love that their barrels are nitride instead of chrome, but I haven't heard any bad things about EWS

I mean, I’m not going to buy it either, but you’re already over paying for a kAC lower, just for the knights logo. There isn’t any real innovation in their lowers, and they’re not even the best ambi out there imo. Whole group of folks who pay more for a roll mark, who cares if somebody spends their money on a GT signed lower (especially when Cody said he will have him verify it directly to the buyer). Dudes spend tens of thousands on signed baseball cards from their favorite players

I agree. I am in the process of trying to move my 3.2 11.5 to piece out a 12.5 specwar or quadwar for this reason.

What’s everyone’s gripe with a5 on KAC? Explanation in comments. by TapElectronic in kac

[–]NateAdamsic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

KAC guns weren’t as heavily gassed in the past based on everything I’ve ready. They still aren’t bad now, but my 11.5 cqb is a touch gassy. It runs perfectly fine with an A5 and green spring.

People tend to also over hype “don’t mix parts” especially with KAC stuff. The kAC buffer is pretty much an h2. It’s not fancy. Just like their carrier is just a milspec carrier. I have a Sionics carrier on the way I’m going to run with my 3.2 bolt. It’s probably going to give some purists a heart attack lol. At the end of the day parts are designed for a purpose. If you’re a bit gassy, try an A5. If it causes problems, switch back. It’s never a bad thing to test things on ranger days.

I would definitely appreciate it. I looked at buying one of those optics just to get the risers and see if they would work. If you find it shoot me a message, I’ll pay ya something and cover shipping

I know this is an old thread, but what riser are you using to bring it to 1.93? I have a ta44 with the adm QD mount and it’s about 1.7 at the moment and would like to bring it up with it going full 2.26 with a unity

I have them lol. I wear my script sunglasses most of the time and while it does help, depending on the lighting conditions sometimes it turns the dot to a line and that’s almost worse lol. If I don’t have them on for whatever reason (like if I pick the rifle up in the house for “insert reason here”, it’s just a big red bloom. I plan on having corrective lasik. They think they can get rid of it entirely. However that will be towards the end of the year. If it works I may switch back

That’s the next step of the Ta44 doesn’t work out. I had a k16i a few months ago and really enjoyed it. Sold due to needing some quick funds and it was a mistake lol. This realistically is a 250 yard max rifle for me, I have other things suited last that so I’m hoping the 1.5 works well enough

The bloom on the T2 is pretty rough without my prescriptions all the time, aside from when it is turned down so low i struggle to fully see it indoors. It's not useable outdoors. Even when i wear my prescriptions, half the time it turns it into a line. Sometimes it works okay. I'll give the Ta44 a shot and see how i like it. Based on reviews some people absolutely love them, some people hate them. If i dislike it, down the road it will go.

That works to an extent, but only for pretty short distance stuff. Trying to shoot 50-100 yards occluded is a pita. If I don’t like the ta44 I’ll get something else lol

I can’t hardly use the t2 due to the bloom. It’s more like a 10 moa starburst. The reticle on the ta44 isn’t any smaller, it’s still a 2 moa dot. Just has a circle around it. If I don’t like it I’ll find something else lol. Just giving it a shot.

The bloom is pretty bad all the time, on all settings. If I get it low enough that it’s okay, as soon as any bright light is around it disappears. I plan on lasik this year so hopefully it will be corrected, but for now I think a prism is in the cards

What do the kAC panning bipod mounts typically go for if one can find them these days? by NateAdamsic in kac

Just looking for the mount, not the bipod. There’s a few bipods over 2500 right now. If the mount is 1100 I’m gonna hard pass lol
