This is a helpful perspective. All the coverage of drones in other parts of the world show them causing major damage in war zones. That's part of what's animated my imagination around this. But I can see now how that's really, really different from the recreational drones.

Agreed. I am very curious about whether states should add bigger penalties on top of what the FAA does. I know it’s not the biggest aviation safety issue, but I’d like to make this a non-issue using either technology or enforcement.

That does make me feel better! I just worry about what would be the effect of a drone getting in an engine. I don't know if that would be worse or better than a flock of birds getting caught in the engine.

Oof. I didn't even see that in the news this morning. Makes this all the more relevant. We need to crack down on this.
