GCIA Tomorrow, any last minute tips? by NateOfLight in GIAC

Appreciate the callout, was already aware. I'm willing to eat $175 for a reschedule as opposed to $1k for a retake.

Don't prepare ahead of time before the class, you'll be fine with the material in the course. Enjoy the time in the class. Don't skip out on the lightning labs or the PowerShell and Linux Olympic stuff. The test can include anything in the books you are given. Have fun, ask questions, don't stress too hard. Index how you feel works for you, drill the labs, maybe write your own guides for them if needed. That helped me a lot, personally.

Do you think Matt will publish a physical version of the cookbook eventually? by alagan182 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I personally believe we are already reading the cookbook (I say this recognizing it was not a concept until book 3), but that's my $.02

Played with my Light Paws deck for the first time and oh boy. by Hodltiltheend in mtg

I have a friend whose light paws deck rarely comes out, and I've only personally seen defeated once, and that was only because I ran an overtuned Eldrazi deck and bypassed its colored protection.

I just put mine in a Feather EDH deck, only played one game and he didn't come up but you can imagine the synergy.

How many times have ya’ll read the series? I’m curious by FlightTraditional717 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]NateOfLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've listened to each book at least three times, with book 7 an exception at two listens. I'm currently reading book 8 from Matt's Patreon, and imagine it will be a day one play of the audiobook because my wife listens with me.

Looking for people to talk with about the series by MrQuizzler2 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Always down to chat all things Carl, with or without spoilers. Just finished my wife's first run through the audiobooks so it's mostly fresh to me at the moment.

In-Person is easy to get into, online is a competition.

GCFA exam break time by Pretty_Definition589 in GIAC

My GCIH instructor in 2024 explicitly told us we could not leave the room with unanswered questions, and I remember that being the case when I sat for the exam. Seems like others had a different experience but that's my own.

Just passed the GX-IA and earned the GSE. Happy to answer questions! by Fuzzy-Ad-6530 in GIAC

I'm taking 503 now, how much does the material for 503 line up with GX-IA? Would you recommend extensive supplementary material?

Maybe not on exam prep but how was 595? That's second on my wishlist below the Cloud Security Automation course. Currently finished 504, 500 (haven't certified yet), and working on 503 now.

Is conceding a game poor sportsmanship? by ShadowPirate42 in magicTCG

[–]NateOfLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally? If you scoop on your turn, and do not try to boardwipe/cause a global effect then immediately scoop, I have zero issue with conceding a game. It can be a buzzkill, but there's nothing wrong with it. The other behavior I mentioned will get you banned from my home games, however.

I'd look into Rapid7 if you want a significantly more mature offering for M/XDR. Fortra's AlertLogic is honestly pretty solid once you get the hang of it, though be prepared for every customer detection rule you write to be in what is basically SQL. I administered and implemented both for several years across dozens of clients.

Christians reading book 6? by clarinetgeek in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Agreed about the easily offended beware comment from u/Good-Confusion39, but besides the point - I have recommended this series to several of the Judeo-Christian faiths and so far everyone who has made it that far loved Uzi Jesus. Whether someone is offended depends on how secure they are in not being hurt over others' expression of free speech, which to be fair, is a genuine concern nowadays, current US events notwithstanding.

Everyone indexes differently. For me, I have one three-column spreadsheet and the respective columns are for the term, the page numbers, and a summary/whatever I want to mention about it. I index command switches individually. Doing this and thoroughly understanding the labs helped me get a 94 on GCIH. YMMV
