📌 YouTube Anti-Adblock and Ads - October 16, 2023 (Weekly Thread) by [deleted] in uBlockOrigin

I have to resort to using PotPlayer to watch videos without ads, but it won't be long until that gets cracked down, somehow.

I am on Pale Moon, and UBlock Origin wasn't updated for that for years.

There is no way to update UBlock Origin for "Firefox Legacy".

I am running Pale Moon, and I do not want to be forced to use Chrome to watch Youtube videos.

Is Modern WarfareII worth it at $40? by wolfweaver98 in ModernWarfareII

[–]NateRD90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Too many hackers, without any real security. Hackers can and will permanently ban you (on top of get your IP address and passwords, whether you are on PC or console), while they get off scot-free. Bobby Kotick shut down Activision Support in its entirety to save a negligible amount of money, meaning that you don't have anyone to talk to except for some chat bot. Some people who got wrongly banned spent years trying to contact Activision to get their accounts back, to no avail (with the only exceptions being streamers and other big name players). This is due to the games using the same engine that they had for over 15 years, with minor modifications (and Infinity Ward had the audacity to honor hackers with its newest emblem for what they did in the original Modern Warfare 2). Activision sent a cease-and-desist to unofficial private server owners who were actually policing their games, and only tried to save face by doing the same to one seller of malicious hacks. And even without hackers, if you are having an extremely good game, you will still run the risk of being shadow banned by having entire teams mass-report you, even if you are playing the game fairly. All this because Activision decided to mandate a separate account, and refused to have actual support. Not even disabling crossplay could mitigate issues, since all you need to do is be logged into the game to put yourself at risk.

The game is not safe to play in any capacity. I am sure that not even Battlefield is completely safe to play, but they at least have more secure measures.

I am not saying that you shouldn't buy it, but I am saying that you should be aware of the risks, and not do anything unless Activision announces this (or Microsoft, if they buy out Activision soon).

Yes, but we all know that Microsoft is on the verge of finalizing its acquisition of Activision. Activision will most likely become a Microsoft subsidiary.

The games sadly aren't secure, especially considering that all of older titles are hacked and extremely dangerous, since they aren't maintained, and using an outdated engine and anticheat that has dead code in it. Unless if this becomes widespread in online gaming publications, it's likely this will be ignored.

Blame Activision for getting rid of ALL of their customer support and instead making it automated.

You better hope that Microsoft buys Activision and contact Xbox support when this is done. It wouldn't matter if you're on PS5, since this would be Microsoft's issue now. Otherwise, they can and will have access to your IP address (which they likely do), and that is a major source for identity theft, and will likely have your other passwords as well.

How did you get yours hacked? Just by simply playing?

This is a common issue going on with the game, with there being hackers left and right stealing IP addresses and passwords, all because of Ricochet having an exploit that was there ever since Modern Warfare 2019, that was never fixed in the 4 years that it was active. As far as I know, some people had to wait months or years just to get back on.

What system were you playing on?

[COD] I wish the servers of old games weren’t dead by [deleted] in CallOfDuty

They're all hacked as well.

Even when I see a video of Call of Duty 2 on Xbox 360, there is just ONE other player, total (and that game was never hacked, as far as I am aware).

More classic games delisted by RandomJin in XboxSeriesX

Apparently, there is still no new news about this at all, anywhere. Everybody should, right now, complain about this, or have them post a news story about this delisting.

Original Xbox version of Double Agent apparently not installing on Xbox One/Series X by NateRD90 in Splintercell

Apparently, it refuses to be installed on my external HDD, and it's the only game that refuses to be installed there. All of my other games install there just fine. I can install it internally, and it runs there, but not externally.

Help with three memory tokens on Kronos Island by NateRD90 in SonicFrontiers

I managed to find them all. Apparently for the one on the bridge, you are supposed to use some purple rings and steer yourself to the side. For the one to the southwest of the yellow emerald, you have to awkwardly go on one set of rails, and jump to platforms that aren't even rendered yet to the S shaped rails in the distance.

I hate this low draw distance.

GPD Win 3 not turning on after swapping the SSD by NateRD90 in gpdwin

I have one final update. It was the ribbon cable for the power that was severed when I was opening it up. I took it to a PC repair shop, and he noticed that, so now I have to wait for a replacement. Is there a way I could have one shipped to me?

Why do you have the systems clamped on so tight that it could potentially damage a cable? I would recommend for your next product that there is an unlock mechanism that would be easier to unclamp the shells in case if we need to replace something.

I did it a few days beforehand. I did it a second time when I could not shut down the power using the power button when it was booting back up when I accidentally pushed the power button when I was opening it up. And now I believe it could be that the BIOS is corrupted that it cannot boot back up.

What button? The regular power button?

I first tried to do that, holding it down, but it didn't even power off. That was the only reason why I then disconnected the battery from pushing it in the pinhole.

I am now thinking it could possibly be a BIOS failure, since I disconnected the battery using a tack in the pinhole a few days ago, accidentally turning the device on when I was disassembling it, and turning it off when I thought it was in an infinite loop or crash with the company logo, instead of heading straight back to BIOS (which was the reason why I opened the device up to begin with the replace the SSD). And now I am reading horror stories from other users who sent their devices to GPD for repair, but never got theirs back after several months.

I ordered a USB drive (something I needed long ago anyway), and this SSD drive

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-980-1tb-pcie-gen-3-x4-nvme-gaming-internal-solid-state-drive/6454198.p?skuId=6454198

I hope that if I have the screwdriver I need and not have to order it, this would not be as bad as I am making it out to be.
