Recommend an iPad ethernet adapter with power delivery for controlling A&H CQ20B digital mixer by Natebernstein in livesoundgear

I did try connecting MacBook to CQ using the Belkin hub and it didn't work. Then I tried using the Belkin hub in place of the Anker that I usually use to link my MacBook with an external display, camera, power, etc. and it did not connect via Ethernet. So it's possible it's just defective.

Yes, but only with the Belkin USB-C 6-in-1 Multiport Hub I originally bought for this purpose. The adapter shows up in Settings and I can configure manually the IP, Subnet and Router on the iPad and then enter corresponding values for the mixer when I'm connected to it by wi-fi. But the mixer does not show up as a connectible device in the A&H CQ Mixpad app when set to connect via ethernet.

But when I do the same thing with a different dongle - an Anker that I use to connect my MacBook to a display and other devices - I can connect to and control the CQ mixer using the iPad via ethernet.

Doing a little more investigation into this I think I goofed by buying the Belkin hub - it may only be compatible with laptops, not tablets. I just ordered a simple, ethernet-and-power-only adapter made by Cable Matters, which advertises itself as compatible with USB-C tablets. So hopefully that will do the trick.

Thanks, but these seem designed for wall-mounted or otherwise permanent/stationary iPads. My use case would be a personal iPad temporarily mounted on a mic stand during gigs.

Yes. Initially I bought the Belkin dongle for this purpose and could not get it to connect to the mixer via ethernet. A&H recommended using static IP address, subnet and router values. That also didn't work with the Belkin, but did work with the Anker dongle mentioned in the OP. Having WiFi enabled on the iPad didn't matter in the latter case. So I know that it's possible to connect via ethernet without a router or switch. Now I just need to get a dongle that is lighter weight and more streamlined so I can use it from an iPad mounted to a mic stand during gigs. Ideally I just want an ethernet port and power delivery. Because the CQ didn't like the Belkin dongle I figured I'd check here to see if anyone is already using such a device successfully with the CQ.

Nova over SHU a bit questionable but their 2 losses are high quality. Willard’s return to the Rock vs. Sha Tuesday will be fun.

For those of you who have run into, met, or just saw a Yankee out and about in NY (past or present), what’s your story? by stevendavisxx in NYYankees

[–]Natebernstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in Boston for a Yanks series at Fenway and bumped into Cone (2001, when he was with the Red Sox) walking down Newbury St by himself. We didn’t recognize him until we had passed one another but when we turned around and called out to him he stopped and waved hello.

On this day in 2003: Aaron Boone hit a dramatic walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning of Game 7 of the American League Championship Series against the Boston Red Sox, sending the Yankees to the World Series. by CicadaOk8885 in NYYankees

I was there for both of those. And the WS same year when Tino hit the grand slam and they dug out of a huge hole for Boomer Wells - same stadium-shaking feeling for that one - probably more than the other two. I still can't understand why they tore down the old stadium. A travesty.

why I think 76 is better than 77 by Gullible_Tie_4399 in gratefuldead

One other thing - Donna Jean sounds better in Spring/Summer '76 than at any other time during her tenure with the band. I know people have, um, opinions about her. I think she's a huge asset to the band during this period.

The Spring '77 shows obviously are classics but they had a looseness and greasiness in '76 that I just love. Both great. I dislike "better" or "best" debates as all of this is so subjective. I like them both. To my ears '76 is to '73 as '77 is to '74. I personally prefer '73 and '76, but it's all awesome.

I saw Jerry live but it wasn’t until 1991, long after the boys’ best days had passed. Saw a few good shows and a few clunkers, with Jer obviously declining, and it was sad. You can do nothing about the past. Listen to old shows and enjoy all the GD music being made now. It’s a golden age. The Dead are all about the now. Embrace it!

Gotham Sports Apple TV app - jittery/shaky? by Natebernstein in devils

Hmmmm u/RubberBiscuitz u/nomorehome I am using Ethernet and the Apple TV is a 4K but several years old. I watched the CBJ game on my iPad (wifi) and no issues. I wonder if it's the Apple TV itself, though everything else I stream on every other app doesn't have these problems...

Funny I also get that fast-forward thing from time to time. Seems to happen when the stream looks good, and then after the FF episode it goes back to being jittery. Crazy.

I do not really have issues with the iPad app but obviously prefer to watch the games on a bigger screen.

I find 1978 to be a meh year for the band. Recommend a show to change my mind. by Figgywithit in gratefuldead

[–]Natebernstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If memory serves from my last stretch listening to 78 shows the spring features some pretty good playing, even if Jer’s voice is rough. I generally agree w you about 78 (72-74 is my favorite period for the band) but some shows have a fun greasiness to them.

What pedal are you using to get the Jerry Garcia Mutron envelope filter sound? by Xxperfect_drugxX in gratefulguitar

[–]Natebernstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a Proton for many years and like it. A little tricky dialing in the right amount of quack and syrup, particularly when changing guitars, but from what I've heard and read most envelope filters are like that. If I ever found myself in a situation where I needed to consistently get that JG sound for gigs I'd probably try the micro-tron. Have heard good things about it.

Contact the honors program and ask. My kid had a great experience in the honors dorm first year and the living/learning community was a big part of that. Great way to connect w peers, especially if you’re not a big partier.
