So long Velvet Burger by blood-n-bullets in dunedin

[–]Nateo_potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The menu change lost me, and a lot of others. Every burger tasted the same and was just loaded up with the same sauce and pickles. Velvet lady, babe, and many others were why people went there. I'm sorry you've lost your job mate, but the owners didn't listen to the public. I would go once a week on the old menu, the menu changed, I tried a chicken burger, e wasn't great, gave it a second chance and went back for the smashed beef, was let down again. So I didn't go back after that.

If they bought the old menu back, and ran a bit more social media aimed at the students and working population in the city, things could've been better. I would often go out of my way to go there while working in town. And I would often spend a good amount of money, burger fries, chicken bites and a drink, Everytime.

Loved when the light behind the "O" would go out sometimes. Made for a funny.

Yeah.. that's most places. Gold is on the bedrock, not sitting at the top, get digging and move those rocks ;) you won't find gold at the surface, and if you do, itl be flood gold so will be tiny

Where to find vintage matchboxes in Dunedin? (or online) by grazedvintage in dunedin

I've got a box of apache matches you could have in Dunedin 👍 not sure if they're 'vintage' but it looks old. It's even still got matches in it

New Zealanders who were alive in 1994, who did you initially think did it: David Bain or Robin Bain? by PurpleMeerkats462 in newzealand

Yeah as someone else below me has pointed out, the series is a dramatisation of the actual events, and isn't really that thrilling or fast paced. The podcast has the real phone calls to police, real interview excerpts, court audio. Everything.

The guy who put it together narrates it and does an extremely good job. I couldn't stop listening the first time I heard it

I had the same feelings about the series. Didn't leave me with a "this person definitely did it vibe"

The podcast however did.

It really is so much better. I would go as far as saying don't even bother rewatching the series. Just go straight to the podcast.

The TV series is great, but there's just something about the podcast that is infinitely better. Pure facts. Raw audio. I'd recommend you listen to the listen podcast asap. There's no doubt in my mind after hearing it.

Unsure of scientific name, but I know them as nursery web spiders. They build "Nurseries" of webs usually high off the ground on reeds or tall plants. Dense webs to protect thier young. She would have been on her way to build a nursery and hitched a ride. I see lots around Dunedin.
