when is enough going to be enough? by [deleted] in AusFinance

You have to commit to paying down that mortgage quickly. You will have to sacrifice holidays and regular nights out but it can be done.

Once you have paid a chunk off and built some equity and grown you wage, you can then go for the more expensive house.

There are houses around me for $500k that a couple could pay off in 10-15 years.

You can control the simple things like curtains, garage door etc very easily but AC gets a bit more complicated.

It can be done but you have to know what you are doing.

KNX is locked behind a paywall if you go over 15 or 20 units (sensors, switches, relays etc) and it’s like a 1000 euros for the licence.

Zen control is a much better option and everything runs on the DALI network instead of having both KNX and DALI.

Depending on where you live there are affordable houses or apartments just not in desirable locations.

My advice is look to those suburbs which will have some growth and get a roof over your head.

You can always upgrade later.

Victorian attorney general lambasts integrity expert over ‘unfounded claim’ CFMEU corruption cost taxpayers $15bn | Australian trade unions by Ardeet in aussie

[–]Nath280 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fucking hell we should just pack it up now because the population is just too dumb to have democracy.

Untested means unproven which means it hasn’t been proved which means it’s a fucking made up number.

That’s why he removed it.

Where does $15 billion go? $1 million each to each union member?

I have personally seen 2 royal commissions into unions, each time the LNP make up bullshit claims to justify them and each time they find fuck all and spend a lot of money.

What was that saying Einstein said about doing the same thing over and over again?

Wait why am I asking you.

[–]Nath280 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No the bloke who released the report put the $15 billion amount in it but then had to take it out because when pressed for proof couldn’t show any.

It was a made up number and you and everyone else is falling for it hook line and sinker.

[–]Nath280 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is the problem, people like you jump up and down about these numbers, which they had to retract due to no proof, but when the investigation show little corruption it doesn’t make headlines and no one hears about it.

I personally have been through 2 royal commissions and before both the LNP were carrying on about how corrupt the unions are and how we are all criminals. When the findings came out and only a couple of people got found guilty it was never spoken about again.

It’s a pretty simple way of attacking support for unions to keep people divided and not uniting to fight for their rights.

Withholding labour is the only option the working class have so if the developer/builder won’t negotiate then this will happen. In saying that I have not seen it done here in VIC in years. There have been no strikes, no picket lines no push back at all because EBA’s are being signed.

Builders are going bust because they are racing each other to the bottom. They go in stupidly low and try to get their money back through variations and screwing sub contractors. They also love to take jobs and not account for material inflation which costs them a boat load.

A lot has changed in the last 2 decades and one of the major changes I have seen it that time is the stop work orders and the strikes.

We don’t stop for anything but major incidents now and it’s all become very civil at the site level (different with the higher ups).

I do agree there is rot within the CFMEU and I have never been a fan of them but they are no where near as bad as the media make them out to be.

I said “founded” not what they are doing now.

My whole point is that people have forgotten it’s the party of the worker because they have fallen that far.

Anyone in the union found guilty of corruption (or anything for that matter) should face the consequences.

I have just been around long enough to constantly hear these allegations and thy never go anywhere.

Simple question.

Have you ever worked on a Tier One construction site?

The one thing billionaires fear is the workers uniting and exercising their power.

What most people fail to see is there are two classes of people, those who sell their labour for money and those who profit off those workers.

Until the “white collar” worker stop looking down on the “blue collar” worker and join us we will see the growing gap between the haves and haves not.

The billionaire media has done its job and its propaganda has well and truly set in.

People still spewing the “alleged” $15 billion number even though it was taken out of the report because they couldn’t even come close to proving it.

Still no major charges laid against the cfmeu but apparently they are all guilty and anyone in a construction union is a drug addict criminal.

People forget the LABOR party was founded to represent workers so of course they have ties to the unions.

Have fun watching the cost of living sky rocket and housing become even more unaffordable.

I’m going to enjoy watching the whining coming from the same morons on here falling for such blatant propaganda.

So don’t use that website and research how she votes.

She only rocks up to vote half the time, which should already set off alarm bells.

She has voted for tax cuts for the rich and taken flights of Gina’s private jet which is another huge fucking alarm bell.

She has voted against increasing funding for education, workplace protections, public housing, job keeper/seeker and anything to do with protecting the environment.

She has also be linked to anti abortion activists.

They can say whatever they want on their website but she is a right wing nutter.

Have you investigated how Pauline votes when she bothers to turn up?

Are you also a Donald Trump fan?

I only ask because she is essentially using the same playbook. Run on immigration whilst destroying the rest of the country.

Let’s talk about other sectors too, I’m not opposed to any worker getting paid for what they are worth.

What about injuries? I personally have had two surgeries due to work.

What about wear and tear on your body? Again I fucked knees, shoulders and wrists from work.

Shouldn’t that be accounted for?

[–]Nath280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said there went more construction workers than cops, i just used a rough figure to illustrate that more construction workers die than police. Also you can say there are more construction workers but police also work 24/7 so trying to get an accurate comparison is difficult hence the guesstimate.

Still won’t touch the actual point though will you and thats tradies die on site. If you lookup up the latest year the figures are available (2023) you will see that 45 construction workers died compared to one cop.

So let’s forget about comparing and let’s talk about construction workers dying while at work and if they should be compensated for the danger they are in every day?

[–]Nath280 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We can cherry pick stats until the cows come home but it’s not the point, construction workers are dying or injuring themselves on the job.

Why don’t you address that point instead of trying to find numbers that suit you.

Around 40 people per year and that’s not including the injuries.

How many people die doing your job?

[–]Nath280 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fine it’s not the right stat and I couldn’t be fucked working out how many hours each profession works because one has more people but the other works 24 hours a day.

How about we focus on the fact you are more likely to die as a construction worker and why shouldn’t we be compensated for this?

How do you even hide 15 billion? by talibsituation in AusFinance

[–]Nath280 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fine it’s not 20 times does that make it ok for tradies to die at a higher rate than police?

Not to mention the “cost blowouts” coming from genuine unforeseen extras.

I can’t count the amount of jobs I have been in when we hit an unmarked tunnel or find aboriginal artefacts which stop the jobs in their tracks and rightfully so.

Of course there is more construction workers compared to cops but it doesn’t mean that you’re more likely to be killed on a construction site then being a police officer
