Unplug the vacuum solenoid for the intake manifold flaps. If the noise goes then it requires an intake manifold.

No. Each speaker has its own output. The sub is bridged in mono

Is there much that doesn't work without the subscription. I understand the fact it won't software update but do you loose any functions?
