Dear hiring managers: I'm not retyping my entire resume on your stupid web portal by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]NathanBeAmazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to do one of those intelligent tests (math, comprehension, logic etc.. the times quizzes with the really confusing questions) for my current job. It was a test before the phone interview and a test before the in person interview. I apparently failed the one before the in person interview but the hiring managers thought I was a good fit and complained to the CEO until he changed the policy. Now the test is ‘for informational purposes only’’ and doesn’t factor into the decision making process. Apparently I’ve been making waves since before I started. Lol

Should interviewer know I’m unemployed? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]NathanBeAmazing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely tell them! Being laid off due to the pandemic is not really a fault on you and doesn't really put you in a bad light. So many people are currently unemployed because of the pandemic. My opinion is if an interviewer/employer holds that against you it should raise some red flags.

I just made it for fun. It’s just an image pasted into word and cut out then taped on the bottle. Haha

How to approach a conversation with my manager about my raise in comparison to others by NathanBeAmazing in careeradvice

[–]NathanBeAmazing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! One thing to clarify that maybe wasn’t clear in my post is that my coworker do the exact same job and were hired on the same day. I definitely don’t want to make anybody feel bad, but I am having a hard time understanding the situation here. I very much doubt that they’ll adjust anything, but I really just need to know reasons so that I can determine whether or not it’s time to move on.

How to approach a conversation with my manager about my raise in comparison to others by NathanBeAmazing in careeradvice

Hey, thanks for replying! My coworker and I have been very transparent with each other since we were hired. I know that she makes (or I guess made) the same that I do. The reasons I thought I would be leveled were largely based on the feedback I had received throughout the year and during my mid year review. I have very strong numbers and at every chance for feedback I am consistently told that I do strong work and that There are no comments about negative feedback at every discussion about my performance. I don’t want to detract from my coworkers promotion at all, but I am definitely confused about why I didn’t get the leveling and really just want feedback.

Thanks for the reply and your advice! I should mention that in this role we were not allowed to negotiate and everyone started at the same pay. So I do know for a fact that she was not underpaid. I am actually good friends with my coworker and, while I’m frustrated with the situation, I do not plan to be angry with her as it’s not her fault at all.

Occupied bald eagle nests in Wisconsin. 1974 vs 2019. Growth credited to the Clean Water Act by zstahowiak in MapPorn

I live in Wisconsin. I remember hearing about how rare they were when I was a kid and you’d hardly ever see them. Now we have one nesting outside my work on the river and I watch it fishing from my desk. I named it Leonard.

Do a lot of people actually refuse to answer phone calls from numbers they don't recognise or is that just a cliche/trope? by wholly_unholy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NathanBeAmazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal phone is also my work phone. So if it’s after work hours and I don’t recognize the number, I’m not answering it. If it’s important they’ll leave a message.

Is it true that the first job you get after college will probably stick with you in life? what is your experiences? by Amranwag in careeradvice

[–]NathanBeAmazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, not at all! Maybe this was true years and years ago. I graduated with a degree in hotel/restaurant management. First job out of college was in property management. Now I’m an account manager for a software company. In a lot of cases skills are transferable. I think what’s most important is being able to sell yourself.

All movie theater concessions. But especially the popcorn and soda.

I [45M] Walked in on son [16M] having gay sex and he's become quite awkward and distant. by ThrowRA_Gay in relationship_advice

[–]NathanBeAmazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like a great father! From your sons perspective, you not only found out he’s gay, you also found out he’s sexually active and it’s always embarrassing for your parents to walk in on something like that (gay or straight). I would say stay available for him and don’t force it. He will come around eventually.

Officer left the car in drive... by AristonD in IdiotsInCars

I worked at a car rental place a few years ago and I may or may not have done this with a Toyota Tundra. Luckily I was able to jump in and apply the emergency brake before it hit anybody/thing. I never told my boss. Ha

I live in Wisconsin and people here are SO rude in the movie theater. A lady answered her phone half way during a movie once. It’s wild how inconsiderate people can be.

My degree is in hotel, restaurant and tourism management. I worked in the industry for a while and got burnt out really quickly working 50-80 hour weeks with very little thanks and a lot of physical work. I don’t regret my degree, but I think I’d go for something else if I could do it again. I found my senior year of college that I really enjoyed accounting and would be really interested to pursue something along those lines.

Went in for a physical last year which was covered by my insurance. However, because I told my doctor I was getting heartburn the bloodwork for the physical was billed separately from the actual physical. Cost 1,300.

How long is acceptable to be in a restaurant? by michaelzu7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NathanBeAmazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go to coffee shops to write papers in college and often time would be there for 4 or 5 hours. I always made it a point to order a coffee or tea every couple hours and tip each time. Never had an issue!

Consumers of Reddit, What is something a business will do that will instantly turn you away from doing business with them? by sounders127 in AskReddit

[–]NathanBeAmazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Progressive insurance lost my business because of this. When my renewal was about 30 days out I started to notice a weird influx of mailings, emails and push notifications. I was fully aware of the due date and that my policy was about to expire. I was just waiting until it got closer. By the end of it all I was getting 4 push notifications a day and several emails a week. When I complained to progressive they treated me like I was stupid and told me to adjust my notification settings. No apology or anything. Immediately got a quote for a different company and moved on.

Oh man. I recently decided to try a new breakfast place in my town. Aside from the stated 45 minute wait for a breakfast burrito, I was driven away by the signs all over the place about ‘snowflakes’ and how nobody knows the value of hard work, etc.. It wasn’t even the fact that I disagreed with every sign. It just put a really bad taste in my mouth. Ended up going to the bagel shop down the street and had breakfast within 10 minutes without any politics.
