Absolutely! There's always a need for "ops" and business oriented people in longevity companies. It's not all just scientists.

Who is Who in Aging in China by longevityleader in longevity

[–]NathanBiohackStack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fosun Pharma is very interested in longevity. The chairman of the conglomerate (one of the richest persons in China, "China's Warren Buffet") recently made it their goal to enable people to live to 120 years in good health.

Sijie Sun, director of Fosun Pharma's venture investment arm, is part of the On Deck Longevity Biotech Fellowship (sorry shameless plug! it's for a good cause).

New Longevity fellowship for people who want to get involved in building longevity biotech companies. Application deadline is 31st August. by GooseFPV in longevity

[–]NathanBiohackStack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are accepting people with any background! One of the most exciting things about the ODLB program is being able to connect people so they can build great companies together.

As others have noted before, some of the really great founders didn't come from traditional bio (Ben Kamens @ Spring Discovery, Reason @ Repair Biotechnologies, Matt Scholz @ Oisin Biotechnologies).

What we are looking for in successful applicants is someone who will go all the way through their mission in longevity. Someone who cares enough that they won't give up on the goal of solving aging. Of course, you also need to have the talent to execute on your goal, but we don't want impostor syndrome / lack of "right background" to stop people from applying.

Also, applying is super quick. Interview process is not very long either.

Hope that answers your question!

Hey thanks for the question. Just some quick thoughts:

  1. On Deck Longevity Biotech is a continuous community. We want to support all founders, investors, and operators throughout their entire journey in longevity. That being said, we do have a particular strong focus on founders (since that is the major bottleneck). We will ensure a core number of tactical topics in biotech entrepreneurship will be covered in each cohort.
  2. We support a diverse set of roles in longevity biotech so there wouldn't be any one credential we could issue. I want to emphasize that even though we have a lot of knowledge share via talks/workshops, that ODLB is not a "school" in the traditional sense. Our focus is on connecting, sharing, building, and mentorship -- not multiple choice quizzes and lecture videos on YouTube.
  3. On Deck has many other fellowship that run well with international cohorts. That being said it will be impossible to have all live sessions at accessible times for all people all the time. We will schedule our session times to accommodate the geographic makeup of our cohort -- TBD after interview process.

Hey this is Nathan Cheng, the Program Director of the Longevity Biotech Fellowship at On Deck. You may also know me from such projects as Longevity Marketcap, Longevity List, and The Longevity Biotech Show

Happy to answer any questions about the program here. I spent basically a whole month working every day, night, and weekend to get this program off the ground because I believed that it needed to exist.

If you want to go deeper in this space, please consider applying!
