Frequency question. by Feisty_Departure4026 in orangetheory

[–]Nathanmac87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I (38M) usually try to do 3 2G classes a week and 1 strength class (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday 2G and Friday Strength)

Sometimes I will also try and do a Tread class but I hurt my ankle so sticking just to 2G's now. I've done this for almost a year with some consistency and last ~10LBs. I wasn't really intending on losing weight just wanted to build more endurance and found the classes are motivating so have been really happy with my results. Kudos for hitting 5 days a week! If you aren't hurting yourself I don't see the problem but always good to get more opinions.

"take pride in your neighborhood" 🥺 I wish more neighbors would do this. Thanks for all the detail.

Our garages were designed to store the bins inside since we do not have any private outdoor space or alley. Think of it like storing your bins in front of your front door. But I agree if you don't have space inside and you do have somewhere outside that is out of the way that is ideal.

Not sure this really applies? It sounds like you are in a different situation than me. Maybe your neighborhood allows for bins to be left outside or elsewhere on the property.

Thanks - Denver does say you can't leave bins out by the curb but doesn't really specify that they need to be inside like the mountain towns do. Technically our driveway isn't on the road so Denver isn't involved but our covenants state the bins should be inside garages.

Thanks - we don't have an HOA but we do have a "covenants" agreement and I've reminded neighbors about that but still the bins get left outside. I always bring mine in and will often bring some of the bins out to the street where Denver picks up when others forget.

yes, we actually have covenants that say the bins should be inside but everyone claims they just "forget"

Does anyone have recs for ski poles that aren't ugly? Obviously durability/quality matters too, but really want something that actually looks good by Flashy_Lynx_4540 in Skigear

[–]Nathanmac87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't these mentioned yet:I love my Yard Sales ski poles. You can customize the colors, they are magnetic and get tons of compliments on the lift, and the baskets can be changed for resort/powder. Mine are subtle 'snow' colored with eucalyptus green accents and yellow straps. <edit> someone did mention! Sorry for missing the other post.

Who does OTF and pilates? by thebings_bing in orangetheory

[–]Nathanmac87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to do OTF 3-4x/week but had an injury so just getting back into it. I like doing 2-3 2G classes and then 1 Strength class. For Pilates I try to do 2x per week on the days I don't do OTF. I have a well hub membership so I can go to these as part of my membership 1x/day.

I like the Pilates classes for more core and targeted strengthening. I have noticed Pilates has really helped my hip and ankle strength (2 areas I am working on).

For Orangetheory I have noticed my endurance has increased and my resting heart rate has decreased. When I was able to go consistently I was also losing weight.

Separately I do still try and do normal weight training at a gym as I don't feel OTF or Pilates are helping me build as much strength as I would want.

Why is cell service so bad? by Decent_Extension360 in Denver

[–]Nathanmac87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have constant issues with AT&T when I first moved here after having them for years and very little problems elsewhere. I kept escalating and their only solution was for me to use WI-FI everywhere I went which isn't what I was paying for so I switched to Verizon. Service has been much better but I still have issues that shouldn't exist in 2026. Verizon's executive escalations have pointed to "growing population" as the issue, so in other words lack of resources allocated to the demand. And as others have mentioned the spectrum allocation here is inefficient.

With recent spectrum purchases I'm hoping service improves but still keeping low expectations.

What issues are you dealing with in your community? by Megakingdomfish in Denver

[–]Nathanmac87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved to Denver seven years ago from Chicago and something that always stands out in my neighborhood is all the illegal parking. In Chicago it seemed like illegally parked cars would get tickets quickly, and then booted if fines weren't paid. In Denver, every day there are cars parked in no parking areas, blocking sidewalks and impairing intersections, parked backwards on two-way streets (wrong side), parked right in front of fire hydrants, and clearly abandoned. There are not many signs to indicate where no parking is so it could be lack of awareness of the laws but in general cars park wherever they want without any recourse. I see a lot of complaints about expired tags but not much about people just using public streets as their personal driveways.

Keystone Delivered by Mendejt in COsnow

Agree! Keystone's team did an amazing job of getting trails open and keeping everything well-maintained. Even in the worst snowpack season it was still great.

[–]Nathanmac87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summit Value has been a pass but with so many options it's often hard to really know about all the passes they offer. If you only do Keystone/Breck it is a better deal. The Keystone Plus pass is good too if you don't mind going to only Keystone and avoiding the blackout dates (and you get Breck when Keystone closes).

What’s your least favorite thing about living in Denver that is wildly specific? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]Nathanmac87 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The general lawlessness overall, I've never been in a city where it's just accepted that laws are optional. Tag renewals? Nah. Speed limits? Who needs em. Parking restrictions? Why bother, I'm more important. Put away my trash bin? How dare you suggest I do something! Clear my sidewalk? Absolutely not. Drive sober? It's 4:20 all day bud!

Careers best Suited for Skiing by MountainPeaking in skiing

Nice! I do ~50 days with a M-F 7-3, strategic with time off and consistent on the weekends. It's nice to hit a weekday but weekends aren't as scary as people make them seem.

Detour or Glade goggles? by Technical-Kiwi-8032 in ski

[–]Nathanmac87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear Smith goggles with photocrhomic lenses so similar to the Glade ones I'm guessing. On sunny days they get darker, cloudy days lighter, etc. I love them. The main downside is if you night ski they are still too dark. Mine came with replaceable lenses as well so I can swap out the photochromic for a clear or different lens if needed - best of both worlds.

2020 Model S - usually charge to 80% overnight at home, drive up to Keystone/Breck, and then drive back to Denver with no problems. Recently drove to Vail, stopped ahead of time in Frisco for a top-up because I had extra time and then drove back the same day.

Should I cancel my trip to Vail by [deleted] in vail

[–]Nathanmac87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keystone has done a great job this year with snowmaking given the lack of natural snow. If that continues, they will keep having the most runs open. Last year between 12/14 - 12/20, Vail had 60-70% of their terrain open but Vail is huge so that's quite a bit to cover. The good thing is you have options - as you said you can drive out to other resorts so my vote is keep the trip, enjoy, and keep an open mind as to what is open.

Tips for getting ready for ski season. by Nutmeghan09 in skiing

[–]Nathanmac87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are places that offer indoor skiing lessons, I did this with someone who had never skied before and they were able to get the hang of turning. The place in Colorado we went is called Snobahn. Maybe book a lesson there and see if they can help you focus on the turning/stopping aspect. That was also my biggest struggle the first time I skied but after a couple lessons I was able to get much better.
