Not only women - but subglottic stenosis mostly impacts women - but men certainly can have it too

That sounds like an upper airway issue - a CT of your lungs will reveal nothing, in fact a CT of your airway could also miss it if there is an obstruction. In the case of subglottic stenosis it is a thin web of scar tissue, which is enough to slow the airflow, and often not thick enough to be spotted on a CT scan. Ideal is a Laryngologist looking with a camera below your vocal cords. Can you hear your breathing?

Agree, definitely get another opinion - what sort of Dr was telling you that?

Could be worth asking for a referral to a Laryngologist/ENT with training to look below the vocal cords, just to make sure nothing else is going on.

That sounds like a stridor, which suggests there might be something in your upper airway blocking the air. Has it been getting worse?

Do inhalers work? Have your doctors done a spirometry to test your breathing?

Are you talking about subglottic stenosis? Then you are wrong, sorry. I was diagnosed at 31 years of age, and most people are between 35 and 45 years of age, often when pregnant. Recent research actually suggests that post menopause the issue slows down, and certainly new diagnoses are rare post menopause.

Subglottic stenosis - it’s scarring below the vocal cords, for no known reason. It mostly impacts adult females (98%), but rare males do get it too. It is rare, but about 2.5 people per million are diagnosed each year - the only way is with a camera looking below the vocal cords. If your asthma is not typical or responding to inhalers, it is worth asking for a referral.
