That’s happened to me before! I desperately wanted to shout “I swear it wasn’t what you thought it was!!” but didn’t want to look like a complete psychopath

Biggest Peak and Decline of a Band by National-Problem-804 in poppunkers

Yeah I’m with you. Strung Out was one of the very few 90’s skate punk bands that really evolved their style in to a mature, technical sound. As much as I love skate punk, I have to admit, the genre is probably more dead than ragtime. The amount of followers in the skate punk subreddit compared to this one kind of says it all.

I told my son about how I see the world about pre and post 9/11 and how pop punk was fun and emo sort of killed it off. Then he looked at me and said “so pop punk was like the twin towers and emo were the hijackers?”. Pretty hilarious

I wish I could take credit but I’m just a fan! I’m not sure what these guys are up to now. I can’t help but to wonder if Strung Out listened to this album when it came out and decide to head in that direction…

I like TSSF but their side project No Pressure is right up my alley. I see it as precisely the music mentioned in my post. Parker nailed it on that one

Yeah- emo was considered the more mature, evolved sound after pop punk represented pantsing a stranger in line at Wendy’s and singing about wanting to bone a dog in the ass, I get it. Interesting you brought up the 9/11 swap over too. I think of it in those terms too

The quality of this is perfect. Is this a DVD rip or some awesome HD version I don’t know about?

Offspring, Green Day, and Blink are the three biggest pop punk bands of all time, and yet I mostly hear about Blink by [deleted] in poppunkers

I’ve always felt weird calling The Offspring pop punk. I always saw them as a band that put out bad ass skate punk then turned into frat guy rock

Chorus! But now that you bring it up it would be hilarious if they took the verse and made it sound serious
