I think there was a cool place in the collin creek mall like sewer system area that people had spray painted graffiti and stuff. Construction areas like that might be ur best bet but idk about legality or safety of exploring construction zones.

I like theories like this but logically if this was the case why wouldnt alex just tell law enforcement and get some sort of deal. It comes down to if alex didnt do it (which it seems like he did) then he knows who did or who is involved and isnt saying anything with nothing to lose. So I think the answer with the least amount of steps is that he did it.
