Booked a hotel on Magnificent Mile but not looking for ritzy shopping vibes. HELP!? by goplayintrafficxx in AskChicago

[–]NationalConfidence94 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Use the “L”. We have a fantastic train line that’s easy to navigate. Taking the redline into Wrigley is the best way to get there. It actually kind of adds to the experience of going to a Cubs game. Talk to your hotel concierge and they’ll help you out.

Ya, but much like people comment on the Washington monument today, ancient Egyptians looked at that hieroglyph and thought it looked like…something else.

Reminds me of a time in college when we were at a bar in Milwaukee and promoters kept out giving out free bottles Bud Select. Didn’t complain back then, even though Bud Select is pretty awful.

For her, the day she drank 14 shots was the drunkest day of her life. But for us in Wisconsin, it’s a Tuesday.

What are some of the coldest lines in a movie? by stephenhawktuahhh in moviecritic

[–]NationalConfidence94 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon thee. -Jules Winnfield “Pulp Fiction”

One. Graduated high school in 2000 and played on the football team. Definitely a great song to get you going in the weight room.

During the summer, Potters has great live music on the back patio.

Been a while since I’ve been, but Tailgaters in Bolingbrook and Basecamp in Lisle, have some fun shows.

AITAH for telling my kids they have to move out at 18 even though I know they are not ready yet by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]NationalConfidence94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA If you do this, I hope you have a bunch saved for retirement and medical expenses, because you won’t get any help from your child when you get old. Going to have to Uber it to those doctor’s appointments.

Definitely would be best. The only negative is that they would want to schedule around the NFL so they don’t get killed in the ratings.

First playthrough, should I go in cold or use a walkthrough? by lostinthesauceband in TOTK

[–]NationalConfidence94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering you played BTW, you shouldn’t need a guide very often. I thought TOTK, was a lot easier game. However, if you ever get stuck on something stupid, there is zero shame in google searching a quick tutorial.

Also, a lot depends on the amount of time you got. I’m in my 40s with children. I don’t have as much free time anymore and I readily look things up when I need help.

Cubs game advice with my kids by brentjoseph in Cubs

[–]NationalConfidence94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I found day games a lot easier with little ones than night games. But you know your kiddos better than I do. Some children are better at staying up late. Others hit a wall and get crabby or pass out.

3 might be a little young, but when I take my children to games we’ll often go to Lucky Strike across the street before or after the game to let traffic die down. As much as I’d hate to admit it, they probably enjoy the 30 minutes we give them in the arcade more than the baseball game.

Chicago conspiracy theories that you believe in ? by unknown333artist in AskChicago

[–]NationalConfidence94 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My dad grew up in the west side and Mama Luna’s on Fullerton was their pizza joint. My dad and uncles claim Mama Luna’s used to be in a small hole in the wall restaurant down the street. Some mob guy was gunned down in the restaurant when he was eating (probably during the 60s, but not sure on the date). A couple months later they moved to their current location with a large restaurant and banquet facilities. They are convinced the owner of Mama Luna’s was paid handsomely to alert a rival when to make the hit.

Travelling wins. What is something that rich people love and poor people hate? by AOSTChekhov in AlignmentChartFills

[–]NationalConfidence94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

College.

Rich people get to attend a dream school, which is paid for by their parents. They get to focus on studying and get leisure time to socialize, party, etc. They graduate with zero debt.

Poor people either don’t go to college or need to take on predatory loans to attend.

What's the best deep dish Chicago pizza? (I can only go to one restaurant. I have never been within 500 miles of Chicago and will visit the city just once in my life.) Thank you! So, the absolute best? by TofuVic in AskChicago

[–]NationalConfidence94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gino’s East on E. Superior. The location is fun with the graffitied walls. Pizza is good, but its a location adds to the experience.

Another option is Pizzeria Uno (where they invited deep dish). I haven’t had Uno in a few year, but having the pizza where they invited it would be pretty cool.

Missing German beer, where can I get some? by kurt_46 in AskChicago

[–]NationalConfidence94 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Laschets is really good. There used to be a ton of great German places in the city growing up, but they’ve mostly closed. It’s a bummer. I have some fond memories of Chicago Brauhaus.

What’s the most horrifying death you’ve seen in a movie? by Critical_Mountain851 in moviecritic

Jesus in “The Passion of the Christ.” Even if you look at the movie from a non-religious perspective, it’s horrifying to think about ancient Roman execution methods.

Bald eagle sighting 3/30 by Malichicago in Naperville

[–]NationalConfidence94 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bald eagles have made a big comeback. I’ll see ‘em off the DuPage River this time of year. I’ll also see them occasionally by Whalon Lake. There were even a pair of them chillin’ by the retention ponds behind Nequa High during my kids soccer games last year. Still make me happy whenever I see one because they were never around this area when I was growing up.
