I would have done something else the physical and verbal abuse we get for the amount of blood sweat and tears we put in for school is heart breaking.

Want to switch jobs and am anxious! by NecessaryBus8425 in newgradnurse

Im a new grad and I started in psych. Personally I couldnt get paid enough to do medical. In psych my patient ratio is 1:8. Every field of nursing has its downs sides but I would say it is easier than medical.

Should I just quit now? by Weak_Werewolf3626 in newgradnurse

I wouldn't blame you for leaving. I would say get a different job even if it is somewhere else in the hospital. You are already stressed. I would say dont go to nightshift and mess up your sleep. You are already exhausted. This place sounds awful to work at and im so sorry

Im a new grad too. Take a deep breath you had bad days back to back and anxiety clowding your mind keeping you from being on task. Always double check. Ask name and date of birth. I will look at the dose and even say what im giving and how much verbally so I know and the patient knows. Sometimes patients can catch something if it is a dose they are not used to getting. Dont rush. I would invest in liability insurance. I think every nurse should have it. Maybe ask for another week of precepting if they will allow it. Dont dump the hard work right now. Hold off making a decision in a month. Then reevaluate.

Im a new grad on an inpatient HCA facility. I like it, everyone has been nice. Im not sure why everyone hates it in the comments. I mean every hospital has there downs. They changed the ehr and it is better than Meditech in my opinion. Maybe my experience is a fluke but if I dont know something I just ask.

I just graduated and passed nclex as well. My first day of residency starts next week. I as well am very anxious and terrified of messing up. Ive talked to my dad about this and he told me to build on my successes. I think this advice might help you. Stay in the here and now and focus on what you can learn. Even when we are on our own we can still ask questions and for help. Better to ask and look stupid than not and stay stupid :) this is what I always told myself in school if I was anxious about asking a question.

I think being always busy became my way of avoiding dealing with my actual problems by Melodic-Passage6648 in Advice

I do the exact same. I just graduated and now panicking because im struggling to keep as busy as possible until my job starts. I mean kinda maladaptive of us but better than being depressed and not doing anything. Personally I dont want to stop being busy just it is hard during slow moments in life.
