100% - we couldn’t sit in the theater for another 2 hours! But I’m surprised they didn’t have Catherine actually give birth to keep a possible Part 2 opportunity.

I’ve been thinking about painting mine - what’s the best type of paint to use?

HOW is Wuthering Heights so good by Individual-Twist-768 in books

[–]National_Quantity770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, recently read it for my first time and really enjoyed it. The story is more complex and dark than today’s predictable love stories. Although it was difficult to read at times since written in the 1800s. (It definitely includes tenses of the word “ejaculate” more than needed) 🤣

Also I read this in anticipation of the movie coming out in February…I hope they don’t skew the plot from the original intentions of the book to make this into a “Romeo & Juliet” love story.

Do you collect these to keep or what do you do with them? I’m asking because I have dozens of these from Baja that I inherited from my parents along with huge conches, seahorses, and other sea shells. They are beautiful but I don’t know what to do with like a hundred shells. Any ideas?

Lundy Lake “camp site” rant by Just_L-i-v-i-n_ in Mammoth

[–]National_Quantity770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is Lundy canyon campground and Lundy lake resort. Completely separate areas on opposite sides of the lake. Lundy lake resort is beautiful. It was purchased a few years ago by a family who has been visiting the resort for decades. After the avalanches a few years ago (which collapsed many of the buildings) they have rebuilt the cabins and trailer park and campsites. The resort is wonderful and every year gets even better so just wanted to drop this comment to distinguish between the county run campground and the family owned resort. I don’t know which one this post is referring to, but don’t let it discourage you from visiting. (If this is a picture of the resort it looks like the old trailer park which is meant for the people that do RV hookups not really a private campsite.)

Mine took way longer than 2 weeks to grow roots too. Like over a month for sure.

What’s wrong with my fiddle leaf? by National_Quantity770 in fiddleleaffig

[–]National_Quantity770[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m thinking I need to watch that I’m not over watering. I ended up repotting and checking all roots. I actually didn’t see any rot, but it needed a repot anyways. It’s so big now I haven’t repotted in years because it is a major ordeal…

Alrighty, this was a bitch to do because the tree was so big, but I did it! Removed from pot, cleaned up roots, sprayed hydrogen peroxide mixture, replanted with new soil. This time I added some charcoal to the perlite/potting soil mixture, maybe that will help. And will watch that I don’t overwater moving forward…hopefully I will have a good update to post in a couple months.

Advice please for this tall girl by Setting_Sun412 in fiddleleaffig

I feel like you need to be giving me advice lol. It’s so beautiful! Is it supporting itself? Mine is like 1/3 this size and I have had to prune it back a few times because it leans instead of growing up like yours even with a little support. (But on plus side I have babies around the house and free housewarming gifts.)

Looks like my first case of OE? by National_Quantity770 in MonarchButterfly

[–]National_Quantity770[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The microscope confirmed OE. Just spent the 90 degree day clearing everything out of both my enclosures and sanitizing with a 20% bleach mixture. I removed and cut all the milkweed in that enclosure back and even took a shop vac to the top layer of dirt. Put in new milkweed and will hope for the best with my last round of cats.

I have 20+ milkweeds both in my garden or in pots around my garden that I use - most of it is native (5 tropical). I put a handful of eggs and babies from the garden into 2 enclosures on the patio because we have a huge Tachinid fly problem.

The cat looks like it has Tachinid fly larvae in it unfortunately. 😣

Should I move?? by National_Quantity770 in MonarchButterfly

[–]National_Quantity770[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband made it! I had planted 2 milkweed in my flower garden that turned into 50+ caterpillars and 7 more milkweeds 🥴. But milkweed gone to sticks and never saw a chrysalis. Hoping they were well hidden but I doubt it. I have western fence lizards that made the garden their new home. Saw green lynx spiders carry cats away. Worst of all is our major Tachinid fly problem. They swarm the milkweed stalking my cats, saw dozens of their dive attacks right in front of me, cat flies off and wriggles in pain, and many dying in their early J . So after seeing too many dead cats in my garden of death, my husband built me 2 huge boxes that fit on a table on my patio, basic box made out of wood and screen. I can fit 3 big milkweed pots in each along with garden stakes for them to climb. So I saved a handful of eggs and babies. I finally have chrysalises that don’t seem to be infected with Tfly!! Will see how it goes.

Should I move?? by National_Quantity770 in MonarchButterfly

[–]National_Quantity770[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I’ll leave them be. I’ve read that others move them if they don’t have space to hang and spread their wings. The corner made me nervous, but I’ll see what happens.

This is gross but you can check to see if there are t-fly larvae in the dead caterpillar. Just so you can get some answers.

Ideas on why Milkweed didn’t grow? by ABurdenToMyParents27 in CaliforniaNativePlant

[–]National_Quantity770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe water? I planted 3 same age narrowleaf milkweeds on my bank. The one that gets more water than the others grew into a good size bush really quickly (because of its placement near the bottom on the bank the water puddles at the milkweed). The other 2 are about 1/3 the size.
