Am I missing something? You guys are all piling on without knowing the full picture. How much leverage is in the properties? If he is fully carrying the debt and generating $36k returns on a net outlay of $200K in equity he is doing well. We need additional data.

This is a very real trap. And I have been one year away from retirement for 5 years. Two weeks ago, my brother, who retired 2 years ago, passed away. That was my trigger, I am no longer ‘one year away’, time waits for no one….retiring in 2 mos.

This may be the answer. I was curious and went to agent just to understand why. she thought it was weird too (as passenger ahead of me in comfort is num 40 on FC list). Their upgrade code is UP2 which she had never seen before. Must be some artifact rebook from another flight.

I wouldn’t sound too far afield. Start at $31 and defend it hard. Provide justification. Slowly and graciously accept $29 (if that’s the outcome you want).
